Yesterday I went down to our local fair to look around the buildings and see what new stuff they had this year. One of the booths there was our local chapter of the Right to Life Association, so I stopped to talk to the woman running it. I got information on the group, and then she handed over a wonderful bag to carry things in. On it is a picture of an adorable baby seal, but it says "save the baby humans" and "stop abortion" on it. There was information on that table about adoption, about what a baby looks like and what a baby can feel and do at each stage of pregnancy... it was wonderful. I had a GREAT talk with the lady there, and she mentioned that in October there will be a peaceful walk called "Life Chain" where pro-life members of the community can get together peacefully and walk through the downtown area in the city, giving out information and offering resources for people who need them -- both for people who are pregnant, and for people seeking help and counseling following an abortion.
The website for the organization here in my city is www.right2life.ca , and I'd like to offer it because it's got great resources for anyone, Canadian or not, and I'm happy to have found this group. On a personal note... I think it showed me really clearly how much my mind's changed in a short time. Last year during the fair, I didn't go, but if I had, I would have walked straight past a booth like that. I'm grateful for that change of heart, and I'm happy I got introduced to a new (to me) group right in my city.
A lot of larger cities will also have groups like this, if you're interested in joining a local chapter in your city.
