I've been in a arguement lately that their are no accounts of bodily resurrection before Christ. Thier are no docuemnts of dionysius until the 2nd century or so. So they try to say the gospel writers took stories from Hercules and Asclepius. That their are similarites of the similarites between these stories and Jesus' story. Whats your thoughts?

Hiya Eklypised. Thanks for the question.

There are a number of sources I would recommend.

N.T. Wright in "The Resurrection of the Son of God" has said that Homer as the OT practically for the pagans and Homer was clear about resurrections. They didn't happen. When reports come of them in other religions, I'd ask for primary sources (Scripture) and dates for them.

JPHolding of tektonics.org has dealt some crushing blows to the copycat thesis. You should check his stuff out.

Ronald Nash has a great book on it called "The Gospel and the Greeks."

You could find some stuff I understand also in Lee Strobel's "The Case for the Real Jesus." (I haven't read this yet, but Strobel's interview books are excellent.)

Hope this helps!
