I just met someone who thought every event in Revelation was purely literal, including the pregnant lady in the sky. I was wondering, is this a common view among fundamentalists?

woah. i've never heard of such a thing. next time you get a chance, ask him if he believes that the world will be ruled by a 10 headed leopard beast.
even many dispensationalists see that section as a sort of apocalyptizing* the First coming of Christ, where the woman is Israel. dispensationalism, which is associated with fundamentalism, isn't really that literal at all. they'd like us to believe they are more literal than other views, but to be honest, i think that is a liability when it comes to stuff like Revelation.
