View Full Version : Hannity implies US troops are terrorists.

On Hannity & Colmes, right wing commentator Sean Hannity implied that US troops were terrorists.
Commenting on the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to Al Gore, Hannity stated that he would refuse the award if offered to him on the grounds that it has been awarded to “terrorists” such as Arafat and as such is a terrorist award. In the next breath he stated that he would give it to “US troops”.
Hannity should be ashamed of himself for calling US troops terrorists and should issue an immediate apology. Otherwise, he should be Dixie Chicked off the air.

Not true. If Hannity was giving the award it would no longer be a terrorist awards in his hypothetical. Unless you think Hannity thinks he himself is a terrorist. :lolo:

I'm tired of you liberals picking out impartial quotes to try to smear your enemies. Why don't you post the entire statement and let's see the context?

I'm pretty certain thats not what he was implying (we're talking about Sean Hannity here!); I imagine he just chose his words inappropriately. Indulging in a bit of hyperbole about the Nobel Peace Prize, before going on to praise troops via a bit of stupid juxtapositioning.

decoski,
I don't think 1stSun was being 100% serious there, I think he was making a point about certain righty-tighties (Hannity's done it before) who do the exact same thing.

That's kind of what I was thinking. As much as I dislike Hannity and his ilk, he was more than likely just trying to bash Gore and praise the military at the same time.

I think you are right that Hannity would award our troops. But the main point is that the Nobel prize committee has awarded a prize to an unworthy recipient, Gore, just like they did when they awarded a terrorist like Arafat.

1) Hannity would refuse the award on the grounds that it has been awarded to terrorists
2) Hannity believes that US troops deserve the award.
Logic 1 + 2 = 3) US troops are terrorists.
Hannity suffers from foot in mouth disease - a common condition on the right.

Yeah, trying to save the planet by using your position, knowledge and ability to communicate to waken people up to a growing global threat is like so lame.
The award should have gone to true humanitarians like Dick Cheney

You didn't phrase it this way in the OP. You're changing it up a little bit to support your retarded hypothesis. As such I'm simply gonna assume Hannity didn't say anything until you provide a transcript.

That whole "save the planet" nonsense is nothing more than Chicken Little tactics by the global warming police. Nothing we do or don't do will "save the planet" because it is not in need of saving. It is in its natural warming cycle.

Well thanks, but "making unsupported assertions and failing to provide a transcript" might be annoying but are not sins. It would only be a sin if I were lying - which I am not. You should be aware, however, that to implie that someone is lying when you lack any evidence that they are is "false witness" and is a sin.
Anyway, thanks for the blessing. Back at you.

I'm not implying anything. I said I'm assuming you're lying unless proven otherwise. And I don't lack "evidence". Your reluctance to back up your claim is evidence in my favor. For the record, I have no idea if you're lying or not. I simply don't trust you enough to take your word on it, especially when you change the specifics of what Hannity said in mid-topic.
Anyway, thanks for the blessing. Back at you.
My pleasure.

It walks a fine line, but I'll give you that one.

If you have no idea if I am lying or not, but assume that I am, then you are committing false witness. You are assuming I am guilty of a sin, even though you have no idea if I am or not.
Given that you have a vested interest in my being a liar and Hannity not having said what he said, it can be said that you are not thinking in an objective manner and the "evidence" in your favour is merely contrived.
What you are required to do before making any assumptions about anyone - but especially a brother in Christ - is to find out for yourself and then present what you find clearly and without bias. If I have sinned, you must prove the charge, not simply make it and then demand I prove my innocence.
For this accusation, I forgive you.
My pleasure.

My assumption is based on past experience. I don't have to know you're lying to play it safe and assume you do.
Given that you have a vested interest in my being a liar and Hannity not having said what he said, it can be said that you are not thinking in an objective manner and the "evidence" in your favour is merely contrived.
Actually I have no interest in either. I don't watch Hannity and I don't care much about what you say. I'm simply wasting some time before I go to school.

I'm not demanding you prove your innocence. I made a reasonable request: provide evidence of your claims in the OP. Without it all I have to go on is your trustworthyness and I don't trust you, plain and simple.
For this accusation, I forgive you.
I do not require forgiveness for this as I commited no sin.
Mine too.

Past experience with myself or with others (ie, liberals, "the left", Christians, etc)?
Actually I have no interest in either. I don't watch Hannity and I don't care much about what you say. I'm simply wasting some time before I go to school.
Waste anything but don't waste time. You never get it back

Don't trust me. I don't trust you or anyone else for that matter. Question everything and accept that even if you think you have the proof you will only ever have someone else's proof. We can never know anything for certain.
But don't call me a liar without evidence. Otherwise you commit a sin.
K?
I do not require forgiveness for this as I commited no sin.

He said, the troops are making the world safer. But their presense isn't making the world safer from terrorism, at least according to the US Intelligence groups. So I thought that was odd. Hannity will say anything that appears to be boasting the flag. Prager, not as much, but did in this case after Gore was named winner of the Peace Prize.

Of course, it isn't in proper context, but I hadn't realized the speech gaffe was that wide. Nice catch, if, for nothing else, as a piece of humor.
