The Porcupine
Any hound a porcupine nudges
Can't be blamed for harboring grudges.
I know one hound that laughed all winter
At a porcupine that sat on a splinter.

That's one lady you'd better never mess with - if that dog will do that with a porcupine imagine what happens to a human...

I actually had to live through this...when we lived even farther out in the country, my two dogs came home screaming one day both with their muzzles covered... one had them in her mouth and through her tongue.
The barbs are kinda like fish hooks....they dont just slide out.
It took 4 hours for the vet to clear up one, and 5 hours to clear up the other...because of the location of the barbs the dog's breathing while under anesethia was a problem.
I did find it interesting though that the vet contacted Texas Game and Wildlife, who sent an agent over to document the very EXISTANCE of porcupines in that area, as they were thought NOT to exist where we lived = p
I am sure they no longer exist there, since it is now a suburb of tract homes = p
