Have you ever so tired of struggling you wanted to quit?
Have you ever scored so low on the “happy scale” your score didn’t even show?
Have you ever looked in your imaginary crystal ball and see thick dark clouds?
Don’t feel alone! David once God’s champion against the mighty Goliath prayed, “Take pity on me, Yahweh, for I am in trouble. Vexation is gnawing away my eyes, my soul deep within me. For my life is worn out with sorrow, and my years with sighs. My strength gives way under my misery, and my bones are all wasted away. The sheer number of my enemies makes me contemptible, loathsome to my neighbors, and my friends shrink from me in horror. When people see me in the street they take to their heels. I have no more place in their hearts than a corpse, or something lost.” {Psalms 31: 9 – 31:12 NJB}
Being tired and wanting to quit, scoring low on a happy scale, seeing dark clouds are not sign of defeat! They are signs of needing rest, needing to reexamine what makes us happy, seeing beyond the dark clouds, they are signs of need. And so David continued to pray, “But my trust is in you, Yahweh; I say, "You are my God," every moment of my life is in your hands, rescue me from the clutches of my foes who pursue me; let your face shine on your servant, save me in your faithful love. I call on you, Yahweh, so let disgrace fall not on me, but on the wicked.” {Psalms 31:14 – 31:17 NJB}
If you are ready to quit don’t let guilt push you over the edge instead refresh yourself on fact that you do struggle alone it is not God’s intention to take you around adversities but through them! So long as you claim Jesus as your foundation if the storms were to suddenly destroy your world Jesus would still remain!
One last thing to think about the words quit and defeat are not in heaven’s dictionary! So when all else fails use heaven’s dictionary!
Remember Jesus is… … …Bigger than life!
