Following is part of an article sent to me recently which after reviewing I came up with an idea to assist our struggling housing market, improve the economy, and be seen as a humanitarian. However, I am not a candidate for any public office. So here we go...after the info is my idea. :ahem:
Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu (D), is presently asking the Congress for $250 BILLION to rebuild New Orleans . Interesting number, what does it mean?
A. Well, if you are one of 484,674 residents of New Orleans (every man, woman, child), you each get $516,528.
B. Or, if you have one of the 188,251 homes in New Orleans , your home gets $1,329,787.
C. Or, if you are a family of four, your family gets $2,066,012.
Washington, D.C .. HELLO!!! ... Are all your calculators broken??
This is a proverbial slam-dunk! We save the money being sought by the LA senator and instead vote to disallow the rebuilding of those areas flooded during Katrina and the collapse of the levy system. Then we suggest to those still needing homes that we have currently about an 8 months supply nationally of homes to be sold, and if a family is willing to relocate we will assist them in that move, finding suitable employment, and get them into another home [new to them]. They choose the home and location we get them started anew. It might even be possible to arrange for furnishing some of the home [reasonable furnishing not all desired], use insurance monies due them on the loss of their homes in LA. Perhaps we could offer to pay closing costs, down payments, and the first few months rent with far less than the $250 billion the Senator believes is needed to rebuild New Orleans!
Write your senator and congressman; contact local realtors with multiple listings that aren't moving; make up "True Humanitarian" signs for your lawns; request public radio and TV time to present this idea in your area; offer to let the Governor of your state look like it was his/her idea. Here we gooooooooooooooooo.....! No recession, no housing slump, no need for illegal immigrant workers for USA based companies. :ale:
