Thousands of years ago God asked a man named Abraham how deep his love and faith went. God asked Abraham how devoted he really was. Here in part is Abraham's story ~~~ When they came to the place of which God had told him, Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar, upon the wood. Then Abraham put forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven, and said, "Abraham, Abraham!" And he said, "Here am I." He said, "Do not lay your hand on the lad or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me." And Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him was a ram, caught in a thicket by his horns; and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up as a burnt offering instead of his son. Abraham called the name of that place The Lord will provide; as it is said to this day, "On the mount of the Lord it shall be provided."
{Genesis 22:9 - 22:14 RSV}
Today life will present you with a similar question. I can't tell you when, where, or how I can only tell you it will happen. You'll not be asked to sacrifice as Abraham was but you will be asked which you value more God's will or your own will, which do you value more things of the spirit or things of the physical?
Since God is the same yesterday, today, and forever you can be rest assured if your willing to choose to put your trust in him as Abraham did he'll send help to you at the eleventh hour!
I recall an incident years ago when our oldest son was bitten in the left eye by a bug and the subsequent swelling. Our first thought was to get him to the hospital as quick as we could because we were about 25 miles from Port Huron Hospital. Yet in the midst of our anguish and fear we sought out ministers who anointed his head with olive oil and prayed over him. By the time we made it to the hospital the swelling, redness, and sight had returned! Choose first to trust in God and at the divinely appointed time all else will fall into place!
Abraham trusted and passed his test will you?
In God there's trust ~~~ In things there's rust!
