To commemorate Tuesday’s 35th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that legalized abortion, Mohawk Hudson Planned Parenthood in Schenectady has asked local clergy to bless its new facility.

Officials at Planned Parenthood invited the media to tour the surgical wing and the new building at 1040 State St., calling the event in a press release: “On Sacred Ground –Blessing of the Building by Schenectady Clergy.”

After the ceremony, the three clergy members will speak “in support of the Planned Parenthood mission, birth control and the continued need to keep abortion safe, legal and accessible for all women,” according to Planned Parenthood spokeswoman Lindal Scharf.

That just messed up. "Dear God, please bless our selfishness. Thank."

Thank you, Father for the technology that lets us murder Your blessings rather than receive them.

I'm hoping for a Baalam moment, myself. Wonder what they'd say when the clergy blessed the babies instead?

Lord, we thank you for giving us the ability to eliminate human lives so we can go out and have all the sex that we want without consequences. Thank you for your blessings upon us.

Let us pray that that blessing gets honored by God in a way that PP didn't intend, and an inexplicable number of women and couples decide not to abort there.

Sickening.

Positively sickening.

Is there any indication of who the "clergy" are going to be?

I suspect liberal-minded women "ministers" from wishy-washy denominations.....

But, I could be wrong.......

Rev. Larry Phillips of Schenectady's Emmanuel-Friedens Church (http://timesunion.com/communities/efc/)

Rev. Abby Norton-Levering (presumably of the First Reformed Church of Schenectady (http://www.1streformed.com/))

Rabbi Matt Cutler of Temple Gates of Heaven (http://www.cgoh.org/)

Rev. Bill Levering, senior pastor of First Reformed Church of Schenectady (see link above)

Norton-Levering isn't listed on their staff - she might be the senior pastor's wife.

Their statement of belief reminds me of the Emergent church stuff... :thumbd:

Thanks, tizzi.

Emmanuel-Friedens:

As a Welcoming and Affirming/Open and Affirming Church, Emmanuel Baptist Church-Friedens United Church of Christ welcomes and affirms all persons without regard to sex, marital status, age, race, sexual orientation or abilities, inviting all into membership, mission and leadership.

Our first priority was to support GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered) youth in our community. We have welcomed speakers from PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays), GLSEN (Gay Lesbian and Straight Education Network), and Unity House-Safety Zone, a drop-in center for GLBT teens. The church has hosted both the Shower of Stoles and the Capital Pride Singers.

No surprises there, then.

First Reformed: I can't find much on their website that leads me to not wonder why they are going to be praying over an abortion clinic. Aside from their statement of belief not really stating much of anything.

:nsm:

Same with the Temple Gates of Heaven. Why in the world would a Jewish Rabbi go and bless an abortion clinic?

I saw this yesterday. My first reaction was to check and see if it wasn't an Onion article.

I'm thinking they may be a pro-abortion front of some sort. It sounds a bit fake.

Same with the Temple Gates of Heaven. Why in the world would a Jewish Rabbi go and bless an abortion clinic?

Not really surprising. Most jews are liberal and pro choice. Usually the kind of jews who think that if they stick to dietary laws and don't work on Saturday they can do as they please.

Hmm. Schenectady. I know some pastors from Schenectady. I should ask about that and see what they know about these congregations.

That clinic needs to be anointed.

With Napalm.

That clinic needs to be anointed.

With Napalm.

I'd be wary of saying stuff like that on the Internet regardless of how jesting it may have been- seriously you never know what federal agency or something might stumble across it.

Kinda like saying "bomb" on an airplane.

The only thing wrong with destroying abortion clinics is that it is illegal - and THAT, and that alone, is why I want to stress that I was not advocating dropping napalm on the clinic.

People, if you have napalm, and are considering acting on my comment by napalming this clinic, please don't.
