"Another time he (Jesus) went into the synagogue, and there was a man present whose hand was withered. And they were watching him to see if he would cure him on the Sabbath day, hoping for something to charge him with. He said to the man with the withered hand, "Get up and stand in the middle!" Then he said to them, "Is it permitted on the Sabbath day to do good, or to do evil; to save life, or to kill?" But they said nothing. Long ago people discovered depth of Jesus' desire to elevate the broken, the lost, the poor, the oppressed to greatness. Long ago the broken, the lost, the poor, the oppressed experienced the depth of Jesus' love for them. That same revelation is offered to you two thousand years later. Like the man so long ago those of us who are the broken, the lost, the poor, the oppressed must stand with Jesus at center stage extending our brokenness, our bewilderment, our poverty, our oppressions for all the world to see so he can make us whole. And in the wake of his blessing we will be restored leaving those who choose not be believe mystified and broken by their own pride.
