Long ago a man named Jacob found himself on a lonely road with night fast approaching. "Jacob left Beersheba and set out for Haran. When he had reached a certain place, he stopped there for the night, since the sun had set. Taking one of the stones of that place, he made it his pillow and lay down where he was. He had a dream: there was a ladder, planted on the ground with its top reaching to heaven; and God's angels were going up and down on it." {Genesis 28:10 - 28:12 NJB} In many ways Jacob's dream is our reality with a couple of exceptions. Today the church of Jesus Christ has replaced the ladder and Jesus' designated ministers now assume the identity of the angels in Jacob's dream.

With all it's weaknesses the church of Jesus Christ by whatever name you choose to call it stands as a resource between you and God strengthened and empowered by the Holy Spirit to bring peace to anyone who is willing to pause and rest. The words of Jesus, "Come unto me all who are heavy laden and I will give you rest," are renewed through the life of the church.

There have been many occasions when the Community of Christ church which I belong to has provided me with stability in times of turmoil, has been a shining light on the dark corridors of life. Messages such as these and others open the doorway but that is all they can do you must walk through the door yourself. Your greatest need is Jesus Christ your second greatest need is to be an active member is a Jesus believing, Jesus proclaiming church.

The pulse of Jesus beats in the imperfection of his church here on earth and in the imperfect hearts of those who call him Lord of their life!
