Thailand mission.

Hey all, I'm gearing up for going to Thailand on a short term mission trip this summer. I have several prayer requests to ask:

1. For the team to be spiritually healthy and preparing for this summer. Thailand is a very spiritually oppressive place with many Buddhist strong-holds as well as rampant immorality.
2. For finances as we raise the money as a team. Pray that God will give us avenues and move people to be generous in their giving.
3. For us to be physically healthy before, there, and afterward.
4. For seeds to be planted in the hearts of the Thai people as we have opportunities to share the gospel with them. Pray that we'll be a highly effective part of the long-term missionary's ministry while over there.

If there are any more things that come to mind, I'll share them in this thread. If any of you have advice, experience (stories), etc. about Thailand, feel free to share! Thanks!

We're now getting close to the point where we have to pay the full price for our airplane tickets. Most of the people on our team can't do it as of now. Keep praying, guys!

Ok, guys. It's now time for us to pay for our plane ticket by this coming Monday. I've been busy and haven't been in touch with the others, but please pray that they'll all be able to pay for the ticket (it's about $1400). Plus we have a huge fund raiser coming up in April which will really help our inland expenses. Keep praying and thanks for all the prayer surrounding this trip.

If I went to Thailand, I'd be on a mission, too:

To eat as much red curry noodles as I could before being forcibly deported back to America.

Vinny, I'll be sure to get me a good bit of that as well as the hot food (I've heard that Thailand has A LOT of that). :flaming:

OK, our big fund raiser is coming up pretty soon. We're hoping to raise at least $3,200 which would really help us out. Be praying for this as well as us being spiritually prepared for Thailand.

Ok, update.

We made $500 off of the fundraiser. Seriously, that's okay! None of us are complaining and we still have funds coming in. This month we're getting prepared with necessary shots as well as passports for the members who don't have them.

We've also been given a long document on how to present the gospel to the Thai people who are steeped in Buddhism. There's a lot of potential for miscommunication. Be praying that we'll be effective communicators and that the Thai people would be able to understand the message we're going to try and convey to them.

Thanks for praying! I'm really encouraged by all of the prayer support here (which is immensely vital). Keep doing so and I'll be sure to keep everyone posted.

Hey everyone! I'm back from Thailand!

We had an excellent time there and definitely saw God move in the hearts of people. We had about 4 or 5 come to Christ! Please pray for them especially as now they will experience pressure from their families to go back to Buddhism. Also pray that they'll be firmly established in a Bible based church.

Also pray for me and the others as we talk to the people we met over there by email and other means. There's still a lot of cool ministry that can happen.
