Hi everyone. Is there a possibility for us to gather all the various rather conflicting claims about Jesus Christ over history? Have this perhaps already been done before?

Some of these claims are completely contradicting and yet everyone thinks that their hypotheses are the closest to the truth. At this point Jesus might have been gay, or married to a woman, or He didn't even exist. So which is it? At least once a year some great new conspiracy theory is produced about Jesus Christ. I think it would be great if one could setup a database containing all these "theories" to prove how ridiculous some of them truly are.

Would anyone care to help or is the task simply to great?

PS: I hope I posted this in the correct section.

I think it'd be a great idea, and funny if not a bit sacrilegious. gay Jesus, married Jesus, alien Jesus, Jesus the sorcerer, Jesus the gnostic, Jesus the stoner, no Jesus, mythical Jesus, angel Jesus, vegetarian Jesus, bodhisattva Jesus, etc etc etc. And don't forget orthodox views of Jesus: God, human, son of God.
On top of this you could list all of the different conspiracy theories behind Jesus and the 1st century Christians. Probably be a very very big web project.

Well, there's a list here (http://www.tektonics.org/lp/pickyourjesus.html). Though I doubt it's complete, there's quite a bit. Of course, it doesn't list orthodox views.

The question of whether Jesus of Nazareth was this or that can be viewed in terms of anything from passionate, to academic, to infuriating, to boring, depending on the views, attitudes and values of the person cogitating the matter.

It is my contention that the "religion" of Jesus of Nazareth was in its origins simply a matter of ethical common sense and common decency as a basis of everyday interaction between people.

That was okay until professional careerist theologians came along and hijacked it and proceeded to infinitely humbug the basic ethical concepts beyond recognition.

Today we are left with "Jesus Christ" the fabrication of the institutional religious Establishments, that is unrecognizable as the original man Jesus of Nazareth.

Have I said too much???

If anyone is really interested they might have a peek at a web page called - wallsofjericho.info.

Best wishes,

Ben Lomond.

I think your idea is a great one. I'm surprised it hasn't been done sooner. But then it was probably done in the past.
If I may, I'd like to start off the list of things that Jesus is: Anyone can add to this list if they like.

1) Jesus is God
2) Jesus is man
3) Jesus is the Second Person of the Trinity
4) Jesus is God's only begotten Son.
5) Jesus is equal in all ways to God and the Holy Spirit.
6) Wherever Jesus is you will also find God the Father and God the Holy Spirit.
7) Jesus took on flesh. He did this to obey His Father and to open the gates of Heaven to man.
8) The Method was to take on flesh, while the reality was to give His life for the sake of man's eternal soul.
9) Jesus performed miracles.
10) Jesus established His Church on Earth.
11) Jesus was resurrected from the dead.
12) Jesus was ascended into Heaven while over 500 people watched this happen.

OK, I'll give someone else a chance.

Greetings,

The answer lies within the four scrambled different books of the gospels actually being about four different generations of Jesuses.

The "Jesus Christ" that I know is My Brother had no mother, sisters or brothers or part of any human family, but was "God" Himself coming to the earth in the flesh as His own Son to dwell amongst them as their Brother and those who would know would become His brothers, sisters and one would become His mother.

The Brother of the Jesus Christ that the only true God hast sent

Judging by what you wrote and your profile, sounds like you have joined the ranks of Smith, Jones, Wierwille, Russell, Moon and Koresh.

I think you need to be careful of you use of the term 'contradicting'. I say this as these ideas about the person of Christ you describe are taken from separate ideas not all within one. These of course are different ideas and beliefs which float around.
I believe the one such as Jesus being homosexual is grossly inaccurate and is nothing more than a sociological demonstration of freedom. These ideas have come to light in recent years as more of us live in societies where we are free to do so. So we have people who question and some who just wish to be controversial. Jerry Springer Opera, you learn nothing but its controversial and that sells tickets.

I would suggest you just do some research, there is a great book called 'Historical Theology' by Alister McGrath which is a good introduction.

You are free to believe what you wish as long as it's intelligible enough to stand up to scrutiny
