Sometimes it is a walk through peaceful meadows with gentle breezes and the fragrance of wild flowers. Sometimes it is a walk into and through dangerous enemy territory, dark tunnels, raging storms, desert places, and rugged mountainous terrain. Usually the journey through life is a hodge podge mixture of ins and outs, ups and downs. Sometimes the traveler has time to prepare but often they don’t. Often life is moving faster then a speeding bullet and the traveler hasn’t time to prepare. However, prepare you must.

Your life depends on it! Who, when the gas gauge on their vehicle gets close to E doesn’t take time to get some gas? Who, when the pangs of hunger are felt doesn’t take time to eat? Who, when the cold winter storms rages does seek warmth of a shelter?

Those who speed through life without taking time to prepare are those who turn to alcohol, drugs, adultery, suicide, and loose faith. To those who speed through life with taking time to prepare I offer the words of Jesus.

They are simple words. There is no hidden deep theology. There are words from an Oasis, from one who will shelter you, from one who will supply your deepest needs, from one who will light the dark paths of life. “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it feel with a great crash.”

Perhaps you are wondering what words the wise man in the story heard. Again the words are straight forward and right to the point, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

How long does it take to prepare for your journey? Only as long as it takes you to say (from your heart), “Jesus I love you and I need you?”

Jesus is... ... ...Bigger than life!
