I usually can't get through this song when our choir sings it without crying. How about you guys?

Worthy is the Lamb

Thank you for the cross Lord
Thank you for the price You paid
Bearing all my sin and shame
In love You came
And gave amazing grace

Thank you for this love Lord
Thank you for the nail pierced hands
Washed me in Your cleansing flow
Now all I know
Your forgiveness and embrace

Worthy is the Lamb
Seated on the throne
Crown You now with many crown
You reign victorious
High and lifted up
Jesus Son of God
The Darling of Heaven crucified
Worthy is the Lamb
Worthy is the Lamb

I have yet to see a Christian artist as hard-hitting as the Orange County Supertones, when it comes to outright rebuking the Body of Christ.

RETURN OF THE REVOLUTION
by the O.C. Supertones
[excerpt]

See, wisdom and knowledge is one thing that we lack
You’ve been a Christian how long, and you’re still on Similac?
So I call on Martin Luther and all the Reformation
Back then the common people couldn’t read God’s revelation
You had to be a monk or a priest and read Latin
That was all before the Revolution happened
But the Body’s cooled down ever since that generation
We’ve put down the Bible and picked up the Playstation
And we can’t defend our faith, ‘cuz we don’t even know it
We say we love the Word but pick a funny way to show it
And the world walks by, we don’t have a thing to say
I call ‘em like I see ‘em, and that’s what I see today.

The revolution returns, the Reformation lives on
The great awakening is now, sleepers, open your eyes
The war is on, our battle cry is “No compromise!’
So throw your fist up and pray the revolution rise
The war is on, our battle cry is “No compromise!”

Our hearts have grown so cold, as we’ve such numb souls
But shirts and bumper stickers, man, we’ve got ‘em by the truckload
Is true religion what you have around your wrist?
What does the scripture say of this?
“They honor me with words, but their hearts are far away”
I call ‘em like I see ‘em, and that’s what I see today
So I call on John Edwards, who preached us all awake
We try to be emotional, but here is our mistake
As a church, we lack repentance, we lack true affection
Not only do our minds but our hearts need correction
And this is true religion, resignation and contrition
To love each other so much that we’d die before division

So what about you? Will you join us?
Will you admit that the waters around us have grown?
You better start swimming or you’ll sink like a stone
Do you stand with us, or do we stand alone?
It’s time that we stand up, enlist for the war
I’ve tasted battle, and now I want more!
I’ve known the Truth and been cut to the core!
But I’m back in the game to even the score!
And I mean to go out with both my guns blazing!
Amazed at a God that’s so truly amazing!
To triumph in battle as the Spirit enables!
Can’t turn back the clock, but we can turn the table!

I call to you
With one lung exploded
From breathing the dust of the earth
With my tongue eroded
From licking the crust of the earth
A tear away from reconciled
A prayer away from whole
Restore my soul…

I cry to you
With two eardrums blistered
From laughing with preachers of night
With my vertebrae twisted
From dancing with creatures of night
A day away from sanctified
A breath away from whole
Restore my soul…

I crawl to you
With ten fingers smoking
From turning the pages of sin
With my spirit choking
From earning the wages of sin
A bridge away from justified
A step away from home
Restore my soul…

(the choir, 'restore my soul')

She took a Cadillac to the railroad track
She drove crazy fast as her life moved past
Everything she did before moved
in her eyes so she'd be sure to get
what she deserved
She started begging in her words
She said, "Jesus I know you're true."
She said, "Jesus come take me thru."

She called out loud in a coma state
Death was near, the stakes were great
She ate too much of her own words
and lived reckless as a crazy bird
When it flies into a clear window
Smash it goes
Everyone knows it did what it wanted to
Is there any way to get on thru?

In the Light
by Charlie Peacock

I keep trying to find a life
On my own, apart from you
I am the king of excuses
I've got one for every selfish thing I do

What's going on inside of me?
I despise my own behavior
This only serves to confirm my suspicions
That I'm still a man in need of a saviour

CHORUS
I wanna be in the light as you are in the light
I wanna shine like the stars in the heavens
Lord be my light and my salvation
All I want is to be in the light of love
All I want is to be in the light

The disease of the self runs through my blood
Like a cancer fatal to the soul
Every attempt on my behalf has failed
To bring the sickness under control

(Chorus)

CHORUS 2
I wanna be in the light as you are in the light
Lead me into the presence of the Father
I will follow right behind, true love will find
All I want is to be in the light of love
All I want is to be in the light

Is there such a thing as a man of peace?
If there is, then a man of peace I want to be
I will need your help if I'm ever to be that
If i'm to lay down, lay down, lay down
Then I'll lay my life for my brothers and sisters
I will nees your help, Jesus I need your light
Forever shining bright

(Chorus)

Also by Charlie Peacock (with Douglas Kaine McKelvey):
Insult Like the Truth

[This was the first song I'd heard by Peacock, and the first CCM song to ever convince me that Christian music could be every bit as good as the secular stuff.]

I've run my ship aground
on the rocks of the soul
there's no lie like independence
there's no demon like control

I've fanned the burning embers
till my house was on fire
there's no parody like power
there's no fever like desire

I've drained the wine of darkness
to the dregs of deceit
there's no drug as strong as pride
there's no blindness like conceit

I've railed against a mountain
with a pickax and a file
there's no minefield like presumption
there's no deathwish like denial

there's no gunshot like conviction
there's no conscience bullet proof
there's no strength like utter weakness
there's no insult like the truth

I've adjusted my prescription
till I couldn't trust my vision
there's no killer like convenience
there's no sickness like omission

I've amended resolutions
and resisted explanation
there's no trap door like emotion
there's no pit like reputation
there's no cancer like ambition
there's no cure like crucifixion

Jesus
by Rich Mullins

[Most CCM is content to paint the world as a sunny place in which one's faith is never clouded by doubt. This is one of Rich Mullin's bravest songs-- his version of, "Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief (Mark 9:24)."]

Jesus
They say You walked upon the water once
When you lived as all men do
Please teach me how to walk the way You did
Because I want to walk with You

Jesus
They say you taught a lame man how to dance
When he had never stood without a crutch
Well, here am I Lord, holding out my withered hands
And I'm just waiting to be touched

(chorus)
Jesus
Write me into Your story
Whisper it to me
And let me know I'm Yours

Jesus
They say You spoke and calmed an angry wave
That was tossed across a stormy sea
Please teach me how to listen, how to obey
'Cause there's a storm inside of me

(chorus)

Jesus
They drove the cold nails through Your tired hands
And rolled a stone to seal Your grave
Feels like the devil's rolled a stone onto my heart
Can You roll that stone away?

It was tough Decide which one to start with but here's one of my Favorites.

God Will Provide A Lamb
by Michael Card(My favorite CC artist.)

Three days journey to the sacred place
A boy and a man with a sorrowful face
Tortured yet faithful to God' command
To take the life of his son in his own hands

Chorus
God will provide the lamb
To be offered up in your place
A sacrifice so spotless and clean
To take all your sin away

Here's wood and fire, where's the sacrifice
The Questioning voce and the innocent eyes
Is the son of laughter who you've waited for
To die like a lamb to please the Lord

Chorus

A Gleaming knife, an accepted choice
A rush of wind and an angel's voice
A ram in the thincket, caught by it's horns
And a new age of trusting the Lord is born

Chorus
For God has provided a Lamb
He was offered up in your place
What Abraham was asked to do, He's done
He's offered his only son!

What Abraham was asked to do, He's done
He's offered his only Son.

Jubilee
Another one by Michael Card.(I’d post my favorite but it’s too long a 9 minute song.)

The Lord provided for a time
For the slaves to be set free
For the debts to all be cancelled
So His Chosen ones could see

His Deep desire was for forgiveness
He longed to see their liberty
And His yearning was embodied
In the Year of Jubilee

Chorus
Jubilee, Jubilee
Jesus is our Jubilee
Debts forgiven
Slaves set free
Jesus is our Jublilee

At the Lords’s appointed time
His deep desire became a man
The heart of all true jubilation
And with joy we understand
In His voice we hear a trumpet sound
That tells us we are free
He is the incarnation of the year of Jubilee

Chorus

To be so completely guilty
Given over to despair
To look into your judge’s face
And see the Savior there.
