My mother fed a (big!) crow , all her left-overs, including salad/vegetable left-overs, biscuits, potatoes, and gravy; and sweet deserts, etc. for 14 years.
She named him "Henry," and he out-lived her (he was lurking around in the back yard during the time of her funeral, looking for his meals); despite his poor diet, which myself and my brothers tried to improve while we were on the premises.
I don't know if he was smart, but I am sure he suffered from her demise, one way or the other.

I wonder, if I glued on black feathers, put on a yellow beak, . . . nah, I'd look too big. Besides, I couldn't fly.

I've always found ravens and crows to be very interesting.
Here is another source of information for anyone who wants to look into it: http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/ravens/ravens.html
There was one case where a man was out ice fishing, and would leave a stick over the hole with the line and bait dangling into the water. He would always return to find that no fish were seeming to take the bait. One day he found that a crow or raven had actually taken the stick, held it down, and then slowly pulled up the line on which the fish was caught, at which point the bird stole the fish.

What animal were you blaming? And for what?
