In 1992, Ross Rhoads and Norman Geisler worked together to establish in Matthews, NC, a seminary dedicated to defending the faith through Christian Apologetics. Time has only seen that resolve strengthen as SES has become a leader in teaching Christian Apologetics to Christians all around the world.

Today, the Seminary is headed by President Alex McFarland. Most recently, the building has undergone renovations such as the addition of a radio station and more classrooms. Through the leadership of Dr. McFarland, the Seminary is advancing more and more. His enthusiasm has been a benefit to the school and the future is bright.

The Seminary has also established a Bible College so that those who do not have an undergraduate degree yet can study there and be prepared to go on and get their masters and eventually even, a Ph.D. Thus, a student can now graduate from High School and go straight into studying for a career in Christian ministry.

For those who don't want to go to NC, the school also offers long-distance studies so one can still get a degree. Such students though are encouraged to come for week-long modulars on various topics to further their education. Most classes at SES are night classes so a student can work in the day and study in the evening. They are also often on a weekly basis so a student can have time for his family and his studies outside of the classroom.

In speaking about SES, let it be known that I am not an outsider looking in. I am a student as well and am pleased to be one. SES has been a blessing to my study of apologetics and I think it would be one to anyone who wants to learn about the topic. Whether you want a degree or just want some backing on your faith, SES is highly recommended.

All those who wish to know more about SES are invited to go to the website, www.ses.edu.

Hmmm, how do I find out more about their distance education stuff?

I'm seriously considering doing distance education through Bible College of NZ but I would like to do some comparing.

(Not to hijack Nick's thread, but you might also have a look at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary (http://www.gordonconwell.edu/). I have a good friend who is taking his M.Div through their online program and I know he's been enjoying it so far. Not sure whether it's a good fit for what you're looking for or not, but check it out if interested!)

Nick,

Congratulations on enrolling in Seminary. It will definitely give you a much broader understanding of the various subjects. Dr. Geisler is certainly one of the most prolific Apologetes around. When I taught, I used his book Christian Apologetics as a text. I also used his book on Christian Ethics when I taught the class Biblical Ethics.

So good luck to you and I could only wish that some of the "know -it-alls" on TWEB would do like you and actually go to Seminary.

Thank you! It has been a rewarding experience so far and Dr. Geisler is an incredible man to be around. He's got a great gift as a teacher. When I've been with him just the two of us, I know he's a superior, but I feel like I'm treated in a way not inferior if that makes sense. We can just discuss "Have you read X?" or "What do you think of this argument?" or "Did you see the debate between X and Y?"

SES is excellent and the student body down here is wonderful. Right now, it's mainly trying to find a better job to make paying go easier and to get my willpower up enough to actually write the papers. I think we all know how that is.

Sounds like you are having a good time. Yes, Dr. Geisler is a gracious man. He and I carried on a very polite discussion via email about a year ago. I obviously do not agree with him but I do respect him. One of the good things about going to seminary and studying is that you soon realize that you cannot be a specialist on every subject. There is way too much knowledge out there to master it all. In my opinion, that creates a degree of humilty. Again, the ones who are so cock-sure they are right about everything are usually the ones who have not really dug into the issue.

Well, that certainly answers my next question, "Does the Illumanati have an official Skull and Bones chapter at SES, and if so, are you a member?"
