  • Guess who had a prime seat at a rally for Hillary Clinton?

Hillary Clinton spoke to supporters at a rally in Kissimmee, Florida yesterday evening but what is news making is just who one of the folks sitting almost directly behind her was.

The man in the red hat is Seddique Mateen, the father of the Islamicist mass murder Omar Mateen, the man who slaughtered 49 people and wounded 53 others in a gay night club in Orlando, Florida just under two months ago.

The elder Mateen is known for his anti-American rants and is an ideological supporter of the Afghan Taliban and he secured a prime seat -- something that isn't just obtained by chance which tends to confirm rumors that he was an invited guest of the Florida DNC. More evidence is that according to the Washington Post Mateen himself said that "I was invited by the Democratic Party; I'm a member."

The local news station WPTV5 gets the credit for spotting Mateen and asked him a few questions at which time he showed them his hand-made pro-Hillary sign.

"Hillary Clinton is good for United States versus Donald Trump, who has no solutions,” he beamed.

Such seating is always reserved for VIPs and folks the candidate wants others to see as the type of people who support them.

I dunno, what do you think it says about her?
      Don't call it a comeback. It's a riposte.

        Isn't even true.

The people sitting behind the speaker are also "random people who managed to get VIP tickets" and "random non-white people offered upgrades because they don't want a sea of white behind them, like that time some random black girl read a book of poetry about race while just kind of... sitting behind Trump. Neither Trump nor Hillary are going to chose many, if any, of the people sitting behind them as thats like 2-5 people below the candidate. 2 if its the regional FO working the event and 5 if it got farmed off to an intern.

Oh, and a good chunk of the people standing there are, probably, either interns or supervols from the city the speech is at. It's mostly so that it doesn't look like the candidate is alone.

The campaign manager in me groans whenever I see people on here pretending to know about the nuts and bolts of how campaigns operate. This is a non-story.

We're not talking about some first timer running for a county commission seat but someone who has in the past repeatedly shown herself to be an utter control freak about these sort of things. And Hillary has enough minority supporters that they don't have to worry about a "sea of white people" behind her -- especially in a state like Florida with sizable black and Hispanic populations.

Mateen didn't just happen to be selected by pure chance. The question is why? And in answer to Spartacus' question, I don't know but I would sure like to.

It seems like you have at least a strong suspicion as to what this means. You don't have to be so coy.

Such a control freak that she hand picked the father of a mass murderer but not enough of a control freak to realize that it'd be a terrible idea because, as you said they aren't lacking for potential picks to fill out quota's for the TV?

This is a stretch dude even by the standards of weird conservative anti hillary crap.

edit: oh, and first timers for county commision seats don't tend to have the kinds of events where one even worries about who is standing behind the speaker. Seriously, this is my job, this is my field and your simple insistence that what you said is simply the way things are just doesn't cut it.

Maybe the devil guided her to do it during her morning devil-worshiping session?

Incidentally, when I clicked on the thread title, I assumed the answer to who had the seat behind her was going to be you.

Yeah, I'm with you on this one. It seems extremely unlikely that anyone knew exactly who he was when he took the seat or that Hillary was personally responsible for putting him there. They have a row of TVs at the gym I go to, and while CNN was busy browbeating Trump about something or other, they had Mateen's father sitting behind Hillary on a loop on Fox News the entire time I was there like they were absolutely giddy about it. Interspersed with that they had a loop of a reporter asking Hillary what she thought about him sitting behind her (a question she ignored), and another loop showing Mateen's father holding his handmade sign, which I believe says something about Hillary supporting gun control laws (can't really see it that well in rogue's pic).

For that you would probably have to imagine how liberal media would spin it if he was sitting in the crowd at a Trump rally. I don't know... that he's anti-gay? That he's backed by anti-gay terrorists? That it's proof he's a secret agent of ISIS or the Taliban? Who knows But they'd have an absolute field day with it.

And because it's so plainly a non-issue, that "field day" would be to Trump's benefit. Anything that distracts from his legitimate scandals is good for him.

Boo-hoo, the media is biased. Get over it, ya snowflake.

I could give a rat's butt about the media or the election outcome. I was just attempting to answer the question YOU asked with another question.
