Great movie! Interesting storyline. I can't help but wonder if this is at least loosely based on the Vampire and Werewolf games from White Wolf. The political divisions of the vamps and werewolves in the movie seem somewhat reminiscent of those games, even if they don't specifically name the clans and tribes in the movie.

I can't believe you liked that movie. it was the worst movie of the year...by far!
the action was really bad, the camera angles were all over the place so you couldn't even tell who was shooting who and when people got shot it barely affected them. This is just a bad rip off of blade, the x-men, the matrix and others.

The story line was just stupid. i remember the audience laughing when victor got his head cut off cus it was so stupid. :shifty:

the only reedeming feature was kate wots her name in those tight outfits.

Oh and yeah i heard the creator of those computer games might sue the movie makers for copying their idea. They invented vampire and werewolve myths don't you know.

A matter of opinion.

This seems to be a fairly common trait of modern action movies. Everyone is trying to be John Woo, but everyone is falling a bit short of accomplishing that.

This is just a bad rip off of blade, the x-men, the matrix and others.
There were elements in common with Blade -- it had vampires, and it had a half-breed. The styling of the action and the dark, brooking imagery was the only common element with Matrix. And I saw nothing that even slightly smacked of X-Men. You'll have to do better than that if you want to tear this movie down.

The story line was just stupid.
Another matter of opinion.

You must live in an area where people are easily entertained. The audience here cheered, rather than laughing. And the theater was nearly full.

While far from being the only redeeming feature, it was certainly an appealing feature.

Uh, they're not computer games. They're role-playing games, table-top, with die and pencils and paper. And I rather doubt any such lawsuit is taking place. Ideas cannot be copyrighted. Only specific names and textual content can be copyrighted. Reinhagen can copyright clan names, such as Brujah, Toreador, Samedi, etc., but he can't copyright the idea of vampires and werewolves having clans and tribes and political subdivisions.

If anything it'll pay off for him, every time a Vampire movie comes out more and more people go out and buy Masquerade. :hrm:

Sorry, I didn't like Underworld either (I wanted to, though!)

I really liked the Swimming Pool, Gospel of John, and Charlies Angels 2!

No this wasn't a "ha ha very funny" laughter, this was a "can this film get any worse" laughter. I don't know anyone who liked it. but hey its just a matter of opinion.

To be honest ive never heard of white wolf or whatever but i did hear some computer games maker or something was sueing the producers of Underworld so i assumed this was it.

Underworld was also a comic from England or over there some place. From what I can recall (which isn't much these days) it was loosely based off of that. I had a friend who collected the unknown comics.

Any opinion I have on the vampire/werewolf rip-off thing can be succinctly expressed here (http://www.penny-arcade.com/view.php3?date=2003-09-08&res=l).

Anyone who said Underworld is a horrible movie obviously hasn't seen House of the Dead. Makes Resident Evil look like a fine advance course on the finer points of zombie-ology.

(I swear-half the time in Hotd I couldn't tell whether it was humans or zombies they were shooting. Guessing a whole bunch of extra needlessly gave their lives for the exploding-skull shots.)

And its plot! What the Haupstadt! What the Funkrufempfanger!

I haven't seen House of the Dead, but the title reminds me of another movie that recently came out on DVD -- House of 1000 Corpses (Rob Zombie film). That was a real stinker!

I actually thought Resident Evil was a good film, as far as computer game based movies go. The action was pretty good and the ending...who would of guessed?

I hope they make a Silent Hill movie, that would be soooo cool!
