It will save the staff a lot of work later when we have our super powers back, and will prevent unwanted conversations from taking place that are against decorum.

Remember, I will find out who you are. And I WILL have The Pin™ at hand!

I think it's a better idea to report these threads, right Mossy?

mossrose
01-15-2014, 02:29 PM
Yes. Eventually we will get to them. But as far as I know, none of us have the power to do anything about them yet. I can't even close them.

Thanks, kiddo,

Milady Mossrose, does Sparky count as a spambot?

Irate Canadian

I guess he's been hired by a bacon supplier to promote bacon to the TWeb community.

mossrose

Yes, indeed, Sir Raphael. The great pirate Sparky is the worst of the lot.

How can you do that without your smilies?

The Pin™ is my method of dealing with those who disobey the rules of the site.

Spambots are sentient? Oh no! Do those things even ever get results?

mossrose
01-16-2014, 08:26 AM
Not all who get Pinned are spambots. Some are actual people who don't abide by the rules.

How vitriolic is too vitriolic? Cussing and being way too mean?

mossrose

We don't have the decorum set up yet, I see. Generally, we try to keep a G-rated site. If you post what you wouldn't mind your 13-year-old seeing, then you are probably fine.

We also will not allow blasphemy. At this point, if you stick to these, you will be okay.

Christianbookworm
01-16-2014, 08:59 AM
Then I don't have a problem! Why would someone say blasphemy? That's mean! And stupid if said individual knew they shouldn't do it...

mossrose
01-16-2014, 09:03 AM
We get a lot of unbelievers on the site, and since they don't believe, they think it's okay to blaspheme. Generally the believers don't do it.

I'm going to see if I can find the Decorum from the archives.

Blasphemy is saying horrid, untrue things about God, right? What is it, exactly? Is it when some think we Christians believe in evil!god?

Sparko

IC, we have the decorum and all of the other notice stuff saved. we will get it up as soon as we can.

Blasphemy is saying horrid, untrue things about God, right?

Pretty much, yes.

From the Miriam-Webster dictionary:

a : the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence for God
b : the act of claiming the attributes of deity

Thank you Sparko for the update!

I had previously gone through the wayback machine and google's archives of tweb and saved everything I could. Which means all of the "flat" html pages that were publicly accessible. I couldn't get the threads themselves because they are created on the fly from a database and I wasn't able to get all of the smilies.

But I do have the forum listing, the decorum, the donation page, and stuff like that.

But if anyone does have any tweb smilies from before, send them to me via email. you can zip them up and send to me via email from my user profile page.

make sure you are on the "From Computer" tab.
click on "Basic uploader" at the bottom

So, http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&ved=0CCsQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Ftvtropes.org%2Fpmwiki%2Fpmwiki.ph p%2FMain%2FBullyingADragon&ei=lSPYUo7dEIXJsQSjqYGIBw&usg=AFQjCNG8SmTR2tKePVwJgmQAIcoK7P4etg, it really would be stupid for some one to do that? I just like the link. Bullying a Dragon would be dumb, blaspheming God would be even worse! Do beleivers ever do that? Wouldn't make sense too. Part B of the definition reminds me of one of the Herods in the bible not giving credit to God when some other people called him god and then the Herod got eaten by worms.

Not sure if I'm misunderstanding but you can reach threads from here:
https://web.archive.org/web/20130805111616/http://theologyweb.com/campus/

There do seem to be smilies available in them. And also avatars if anyone wants to recover theirs.

Example smiley
https://web.archive.org/web/20130820024710im_/http://www.theologyweb.com/campus/images/smilies/wink.gif
Looks like you can replace "wink" with the name of another smiley if you know it

Not all of the threads were saved in the Wayback machine. I'm pretty sure the Wayback machine has only the most recent threads at the time of imaging.

Sparko
01-16-2014, 11:52 AM
The problem with the threads in the wayback machine is that on tweb, each post was "owned" by a user, and stored under their account basically in a database. when you were viewing a thread, the site created the pages of that thread on the fly from the database. You can save the pages from the wayback machine but there is no way to get the posts back into the database here on the real site, under each user's ID.

What's the Pin?

The PinTM is mossy official weapon of choice for knocking objects into orbit. You know, kind of like how Rapunzel has the frying pan, well she has The PinTM for that. Just be glad she didn't choose the knives instead (I personally prefer the frying pan, but The PinTM works too).
