Anybody here like Five Iron Frenzy? They've been my favorite band for about 2 years now. I just find their music variously insightful, inspiring, convicting, and fun! Anyone else?

I've been really annoyed that they never get any radio play, keeping them an "underground" hit among the young. They're too spiritual for secular radio stations, yet too sarcastic and critical for Christian stations!

I'm not as big of a ska fan as I used to be, but I still like some of FIF's older stuff. The first two albums mainly.

Their last two albums have gone away from the ska sound entirely (and I like them much better than the early stuff!) The new style lends a lot more to injecting genuine feeling and emotion into the music, in my opinion.

I'm not all that much of fan of Ska, but I saw them play at SWC the year before the most recent one. They do put on a good show.

Finally! somebody else in the world who liked their show! How long ago did you see it? As I said, recently they have moved dramatically away from their early ska sound into something I really wouldn't know how to describe, except to say that I enjoy it a lot. It's a shame they're going their seperate ways at the end of this current tour, as you can read on their website (http://www.fiveironfrenzy.com), but if you read the letter there, it's understandable why they've decided to call it quits.

It was a about a year and half ago.

I had taken two youth kids to Spirit West Coast, and FIF was one of the bands they really wanted to see. They band certianally had a sense of humor. I remember they had everybody cheer for the construction workers who where taking a break and watching the show from some scaffholdings. They crowd really liked them and everybody was singing along with whatever it was that they where singing. Lots of energy coming from the stage.

But I still don't like Ska :tongue:
