The show of 20 Dec is at www.premier.org.uk/unbelievable
Ok, I know, its not the virgin birth, its the virgin conception. But anyway, does it matter? Is it integral to the person of Jesus that he was born of a Virgin? What if he had a human father... could he still have been God's Son?
Sarah Tinker the Unitarian on the programme believes that we don't need to take the account of Mary being a Virgin literally. Rather we should see the story as a beautiful myth..
Hmmm... Whaddya reckon?
P.s. what's your favourite/ least favourite carol - worst for me has to be Away in a manger - no crying he makes etc. - Jesus the only baby in existence not to cry after it was born, doesn't sound very incarnate to me.
