So the man behind "Misquoting Jesus" is coming on "Unbelievable?" a the very beginning of January to talk about the book. He will be debating on the show with New Testament scholar Peter Williams of Tyndale House in Cambridge.
The title of the discussion will be "Misquoting Jesus: Can we still believe the New Testament is inspired?"
I will also be recording a show with him on the question of suffering in light of his recent book "God's problem" - he will be debating Oxford Christian philosopher Richard Swinburne for that one.
If you have any questions or comments for Bart on the textual variation and inspiration of Scripture as arises in the book "Misquoting Jesus", or about the Suffering issue then let me know and I can put it to him on the programme when we record it.
The shows will be brodcast and go online and podcast on 3rd Jan and 10 Jan at www.premier.org.uk/unbelievable

Swinburne? I have to see this.
One of the most important questions is:
Does he think that the variances in the New Testament manuscripts raise doubts about the divine self-understanding of Jesus? Is the muslims view of Jesus plausible?
How many % off the New Testament are uncorrupted in his opinion?

If Jesus, was just an ordinary man who died an ordinary death and never came back, just as many of the other claimed messiahs of his time did, then what happened that made his memory not an ordinary event? What separated him from all the other "Christs" who also died ordinary deaths?
Another question would be centered around the "canon" of scripture. Apparently Jesus knew he was the fulfillment of the Old Testament, and indeed we don't see the Old Testament continue After Jesus in the sense of Prophets arising every now and then. It seems the "inspiration" for the "canon" ceased.
Does he think Jesus just made a lucky guess?

Is bart ehrman an atheist or a christian? Im confused because on yahoo answers someone said he was and someone said he wasnt. (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AgKUBeAQkjNKMW7APGRqLKvsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20081230062329AA8LlFb&show=7#profile-info-qYsWKWB0aa)
Im often told by uninformed christians that even atheist scholars dont agree with richard dawkins/christopher hitchens/rook hawkins view of early church history and I would be interested to know what the atheist scholar thought of the bit in the god delusion on the historicity of jesus.

He's obviously not a christian.
But I think the question "Was there a historical Jesus?" is interesting.

Jason, I have another question as well!
In the gospels it tells us that Large Numbers of People saw Jesus do miracles and teach. Isn't this fact supported by the very rapid growth of Christianity, in that the news about him must have spread amongst the common folk thereby laying the ground for future preaching? I can't seem to explain the rapid growth of the faith in any other way.

When he talks to Swinburne, I'd like to know his objective moral standard.
