You've heard it said life is like a journey. Sometimes it is a walk through peaceful meadows with gentle breezes and fragrant wild flowers. Sometimes it is a walk into and through dangerous enemy territory, dark tunnels, raging storms, desert places, and rugged mountainous terrain. Usually it's a mixture of ins and outs, ups and downs.

Sometimes the traveler has time to prepare but often they don't. Often life is moving faster than a speeding bullet and the traveler hasn't time to prepare. Prepare you must your life depends on it! Who, when the gas gauge on their vehicle gets close to E doesn't take time to get some gas? Who, when hungry doesn't take time to eat? Who, in the cold of winter does seek the warmth of a shelter?

Those who speed through life without taking time to prepare are those who will eventually succumb to the adversities that rock their lives. To those who speed through life without taking time to prepare I offer the words of Jesus.

They are simple words not hidden in deep theology. They are words from one who will shelter you, who will supply your deepest needs, and who will light the dark paths of life. "Therefore, everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on rock. Rain came down, floods rose, gales blew and hurled themselves against that house, and it did not fall: it was founded on rock. But everyone who listens to these words of mine and does not act on them will be like a stupid man who built his house on sand. Rain came down, floods rose, gales blew and struck that house, and it fell; and what a fall it had!" {Matthew 7:24 - 7:27 NJB}

Perhaps you are wondering what words the sensible man heard in the story heard? Again the words are straight forward and right to the point, "Come to me, all you who labor and are overburdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28 NJB)

How long does it take to prepare for your journey? How long does it take to say, "Jesus I love you and I need you?"

Blessings and Peace,
Gary
