View Full Version : Thank You, Ex-Pres. Clinton!

I received this in my e-mail. Most of the contents are public knowledge -- the stuff we heard on the news. As for the last bit concerning the stuff that was censored from our news, well you can take that with the grain of salt if you like. This letter is both humorous and sad.

Dear Mr. Ex President Clinton:

I recently saw a bumper sticker that said, "Thank me, I voted for Clinton-Gore." So, I sat down and reflected on that, and I am sending my "Thank you" for what you have done, specifically:

1. Thank you for introducing us to Jennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, Monica Lewinsky, Dolly Kyle Browning, Kathleen Willey, and Juanita Broderick. Did I leave anyone out?

2. Thank you for teaching my 8 year old about oral sex. I had really planned to wait until they were older to discuss it with them, but now they know more about it than I did as a senior in college.

3. Thank you for showing us that sexual harassment in the work place (especially the White House) and on the job is OK, and all you have to know is what the meaning of "is" is. It really is great to know that certain sexual acts are not sex, and one person may have sex while the other one involved does NOT have sex.

4. Thank you for reintroducing the concept of impeachment to a new generation and demonstrating that the ridiculous plot of the movie "Wag the Dog" could be plausible after all.

5. Thanks for making Jimmy Carter look competent, Gerald Ford look graceful, Richard Nixon look honest, Lyndon Johnson look truthful, and John Kennedy look moral.

6. Thank you for the 73 House and Senate witnesses who have pled the 5th Amendment and 17 witnesses who have fled the country to avoid testifying about Democratic campaign fund raising.

7. Thank you, for the 19 charges, 8 convictions, and 4 imprisonments from the Whitewater "mess" and the 55 criminal charges and 32 criminal convictions (so far) in the other "Clinton" scandals.

8. Thanks also for reducing our military by half, "gutting" much of our foreign policy, and flying all over the world on "vacations" carefully disguised as necessary trips.

9. Thank you, also, for "finding" millions of dollars -- I really didn't need it in the first place, and I can't think of a more well deserving group of recipients for my hard-earned dollars than jet fuel for all of your globe-trotting. I understand you, the family, and your cronies have logged in more time aboard Air Force One than any other administration.

10. Now that you've left the White House, thanks for the 140 pardons of convicted felons and indicted felons-in-exile. We will love to have them rejoin society.

11. Thanks also for removing the White House silverware. I'm sure that Laura Bush didn't like the pattern anyway. Also, enjoy the housewarming gifts you've received from your "friends."

12. Thanks to you and your staff in the West Wing of the White House for vandalizing and destroying government property on the way out. I also appreciate removing all of that excess weight (China, silverware, linen, towels, ash trays, soap, pens, magnetic compass, flight manuals, etc.) out of Air Force One. The weight savings means burning less fuel, thus less tax dollars spent on jet fuel. Thank you!

13. And finally, please ensure that Hillary enjoys the $8 million dollar advance for her upcoming "tell-all" book; and you, Bill, the $10 million advance for your memoirs. Who says crime doesn't pay!

14. The last and most important point - thank you for forcing Israel to let Mohammed Atta go free. Terrorist pilot Mohammed Atta blew up a bus in Israel in 1986. The Israelis captured, tried and imprisoned him. As part of the Oslo agreement with the Palestinians in 1993, Israel had to agree to release so-called "political prisoners." However, the Israelis would not release any with blood on their hands. The American President at the time, Bill Clinton, and his Secretary of State, Warren Christopher, "insisted" that all prisoners be released. Thus Mohammed Atta was freed and eventually thanked the US by flying an airplane into Tower One of the World Trade Center. This was reported by many of the American TV networks at the time that the terrorists were first identified. It was censored in the US
from all later reports. Why shouldn't Americans know the real truth?

What a guy!!

God bless America and thank you (once again) for spending my taxes so wisely and frugally.

Sincerely,

A US Citizen

P.S. Please pass along a special thank you to Al Gore for "inventing" the Internet, without which, I would not be able to send this wonderful factual e-mail.

Well,
I can't argue with much of that.
I can say, however, that there are roughly 2 million military personnel in the Department of Defense. Not enough?

Also, Al Gore never claimed he invented the internet. If you search around, you'll find he said: "During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet. I took the initiative in moving forward a whole range of initiatives that have proven to be important to our country's economic growth and environmental protection, improvements in our educational system."

Sure, he could have worded it better, but what he was trying to say was that he helped to create an environment that fostered the development of the internet.

Just my 2 cents.

Where are you getting your numbers?

He can speak for himself and so can Dan Quale (sp?).

As one who looks for double meaning, puns, and ambiguous usage of language almost instinctively, my impression of Clinton from the first time I heard him speak publicly (Gennifer Flowers incident, followed by campaign speeches) was that what he said couldn't be trusted. A person who is telling the truth simply doesn't talk that way. His manner of speech during his sworn testimony was predictable in light of his public speaking habits.
The fact that so many Americans/"yanks" (not trying to slight Mexicans, Canadians, or various S American nationalities, I assure you--it's just a common and convenient language convention) still hold such admiration for Clinton is shocking, imo, and must be filed as evidence that we are a stupid people as a whole (imo).

I found that list a while ago and I loved it. I am embarrassed and ashamed to admit that I voted for the jerk not once, but twice. :argh: (So, "Berated me, I voted for Clinton-Gore." :bonk: )

So have you heard the report that he is being considered as a replacement for U.N. Secretary General Koffi Anan? :hrm:

I got my numbers from www.fedstats.gov.
It reports approximately 1,400,000 active duty personnel in FY02. I figure that 600,000 in the reserve components is not an overestimate.

As for Al Gore: certainly he can speak for himself. I provided his quote. Do you see the word "invent" anywhere? Does "create" mean the same thing as "invent"? Would you agree that any instance of "create" and "invent" having the same meaning would be constructed by the controversy-hungry media hounds running this country?

You can check out www.snopes.com/quotes/internet.htm for more information.

Does "create" mean the same thing as "invent"?

Yes, it does. I knew about Gore's quote and I understood that when some people claimed he said he "invented" the internet, they were the synonym and not directly quoting him. It's no different than saying that Thomas Edison invented or created things.

We say that God created the heavens and the earth. Do you ever say that He invented them? No. I wonder why not. Maybe because they don't carry the same meaning? I'll quote snopes.com here:

"If they mean the same thing, then why have the media overwhelmingly and consistently cited Gore as having claimed he "invented" the Internet when he never used that word? The answer is that the words don't mean the same thing, but by substituting one word for the other, commentators can make Gore's claim sound [more] ridiculous."

Moreover, for Gore to claim that he "invented" the internet would absurd in and of itself. Gore came to congress in 1977, long after many of the components for the internet were already invented and up and running. Gore may not be the brightest man ever in politics, but he seems to be fairly well informed on many technological issues.

Anyway, you have his quote. You can interpret it however you want.

Interesting. That wasn't what I was asking at all. Do you ever say it?
Let's take a Jeremiah 18 example: If a potter forms clay into a pot, you can say that he created a pot. Do you say he invented a pot? Obviously not.

If, however, Edison invents the lightbulb, you can say that he created the lightbulb. It works one way but not the other. Now remember Gore's quote? He used "create" and not "invent."

Anyway, I'm not here to defend Al Gore. That's all I'm going to say about it.

Salus, can you elaborate a bit more on this hoax?

I see what you are getting at Doc but there is one thing that is crucial and that is the use by Gore of the definate article. If he had said "An internet" that would have been one thing, but what he said was "THE internet." Leaving any reasonable person with the idea that he was implying that he was the creator and inventor. I agree it's foolish to focus on but I do see the point that he was at least engaging in a less than honest spin of his acomplishments.

Pilgrim,

I don't see Gore as "engaging in a less than honest spin of his acomplishments." In light of the context of his verse, I would say that it is much more likely that he simply worded it quite badly. Had he taken his time, perhaps, he would have worded it better and not been so misunderstood.

Alright. I'm serious this time. I'm done.

I will elaborate on the hoax. The hoax is that there are two different Mohammed Atta's involved. Both

Sadly this is a hoax.

Why "sadly"? Why would it be better to blame one more thing on Clinton? It won't bring back the people that Atta killed.

One of my theology profs told us that he knew someone from Clinton's home church in Arkansas, and that this person was convinced that Clinton was a genuine believer. I think we should give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe we should treat him as a fallen brother instead of as a tool of the enemy. I mean, I disagree with his politics, too, and he really offends me, but it's nothing in comparison to how I've offended God.

OK, I'll stop now. No offense meant to anyone here, particularly Salus. I've just found myself using politics to justify vilifying people, and I'm a little sensitive to it.
