Our charitable society is named after three C.M.S. missionary doctor martyrs. They died 70 years ago near my place in West Bengal district of India. They saved some dying Bengali refugees and rehabilitated them in their Ranaghat hospital. The Bengalese later formed communist influenced union and shot them for not fulfilling their increasing demands.
Then they fell into terrible hardship as fugitives. After a few years some returned to another Christian mission nearby and confessed. The former hospital was closed after that shooting. But the missioners there did not hand them over to police. They again rehabilitated them. One of their young men was sent for medical studies in England. He became a doctor but fell to the lure of an English lady there. But latter he came back to India and headed a C.M.S. missionary hospital dedicatedly till his death.
Some of them were sent for theological studies and a few became pastors. One of them is now the bishop of a C.N.I (Anglican Church root) diocese. In this way Christian forgiveness bears fruit.
We never recognize us as enemies of ourselves and God; unless we come to Jesus and witness our enmity to him. Judas Iscariot did not recognize himself as his own worst enemy, far worse than his enmity to Jesus. Unless regenerated, our every action, even seemingly good, leads us to eternal death, personally and corporately. So Christ told “unless you sacrifice yourself, you kill yourself “
