  • Do You Have a "Quiet Time"?

It's so easy for life to get in the way of being a Christian. In fact, being a Christian should BE our life.

Part of that, to me, has always been a "Quiet Time", or "private devotions", or "closet time". Some time where we get alone and spend some time with our Lord.

I like early morning. If I wait and do my payer time in the evening, I feel like I'm praying about stuff I probably wouldn't need to be praying about if I had prayed about them in the morning.

Have you had a 'quiet time' in the past, and not doing it now? I'd just like to remind us -- me, too -- that we need to spend some "alone time" with God. Jesus often did it early in the morning. To me, that's just the best time - before phones start ringing, and people start stopping by, and the day gets busy.

    How bout you?

This is one of the things that Orthodoxy has really helped me with. I pray nearly every morning and evening; the only time I miss any more is if I fall asleep reading on the bed and don't wake up until the wee hours of the morning.
Enter the Church and wash away your sins. For here there is a hospital and not a court of law. Do not be ashamed to enter the Church; be ashamed when you sin, but not when you repent. – St. John Chrysostom

I recommend you do not try too hard and ...research as little as possible. Such weighty things give me a headache. - Shunyadragon, Baha'i apologist

To me, though I don't do it on purpose, there's something really nice about falling asleep while praying at night.

Night time. It's when I read the bible, pray, and read books. My brain is real active around 10pm
