Having grown up listening to Michael Jackson in the pop era, I had a great admiration for his music. While my tastes have changed as I've grown older, I still have a great respect for his music. About a year ago or so I sat down one day and just listened to some of his videos. I was awestruck at the simplicity of some of the messages that I believe he wrote to inspire hope in the hearer. And I was indeed inspired.

I think I have been in a state of shock I suppose about his death. It seems so surreal. And as I sat and watched the memorial today, I was saddened by the great loss that I personally feel.

So, I'd like to dedicate a thread to some of the very inspiring lyrics that touched so many hearts across the world. He will indeed live on in our hearts and through his timeless messages.

What a beautiful prayer! May we all consider the words of this song and care enough for the living.

There's A Place In
Your Heart
And I Know That It Is Love
And This Place Could
Be Much
Brighter Than Tomorrow
And If You Really Try
You'll Find There's No Need
To Cry
In This Place You'll Feel
There's No Hurt Or Sorrow

There Are Ways
To Get There
If You Care Enough
For The Living
Make A Little Space
Make A Better Place...

Heal The World
Make It A Better Place
For You And For Me
And The Entire Human Race
There Are People Dying
If You Care Enough
For The Living
Make A Better Place
For You And For Me

If You Want To Know Why
There's A Love That
Cannot Lie
Love Is Strong
It Only Cares For
Joyful Giving
If We Try
We Shall See
In This Bliss
We Cannot Feel
Fear Or Dread
We Stop Existing And
Start Living

Then It Feels That Always
Love's Enough For
Us Growing
So Make A Better World
Make A Better World...

Heal The World
Make It A Better Place
For You And For Me
And The Entire Human Race
There Are People Dying
If You Care Enough
For The Living
Make A Better Place
For You And For Me

And The Dream We Were
Conceived In
Will Reveal A Joyful Face
And The World We
Once Believed In
Will Shine Again In Grace
Then Why Do We Keep
Strangling Life
Wound This Earth
Crucify Its Soul
Though It's Plain To See
This World Is Heavenly
Be God's Glow

We Could Fly So High
Let Our Spirits Never Die
In My Heart
I Feel You Are All
My Brothers
Create A World With
No Fear
Together We'll Cry
Happy Tears
See The Nations Turn
Their Swords
Into Plowshares

We Could Really Get There
If You Cared Enough
For The Living
Make A Little Space
To Make A Better Place...

Heal The World
Make It A Better Place
For You And For Me
And The Entire Human Race
There Are People Dying
If You Care Enough
For The Living
Make A Better Place
For You And For Me

"Man In The Mirror"

I'm Gonna Make A Change,
For Once In My Life
It's Gonna Feel Real Good,
Gonna Make A Difference
Gonna Make It Right . . .

As I, Turn Up The Collar On My
Favorite Winter Coat
This Wind Is Blowin' My Mind
I See The Kids In The Street,
With Not Enough To Eat
Who Am I, To Be Blind?
Pretending Not To See
Their Needs
A Summer's Disregard,
A Broken Bottle Top
And A One Man's Soul
They Follow Each Other On
The Wind Ya' Know
'Cause They Got Nowhere
To Go
That's Why I Want You To
Know

I'm Starting With The Man In
The Mirror
I'm Asking Him To Change
His Ways
And No Message Could Have
Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World
A Better Place
If You Wanna Make The
World A Better Place
Take A Look At Yourself, And
Then Make A Change
Take A Look At Yourself, And
Then Make A Change
Na Na Na, Na Na Na, Na Na,
Na Nah

I've Been A Victim Of A Selfish
Kind Of Love
It's Time That I Realize
That There Are Some With No
Home, Not A Nickel To Loan
Could It Be Really Me,
Pretending That They're Not
Alone?

A Willow Deeply Scarred,
Somebody's Broken Heart
And A Washed-Out Dream
Washed-Out Dream
They Follow The Pattern Of
The Wind, Ya' See
Cause They Got No Place
To Be
That's Why I'm Starting With
Me
Starting With Me!

I'm Starting With The Man In
The Mirror
Ooh!
I'm Asking Him To Change
His Ways
Ooh!
And No Message Could Have
Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World
A Better Place
If You Wanna Make The
World A Better Place
Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make A Change
Take A Look At Yourself And
Then Make A Change

Thanks for this thread, Xmansmommy. Michael Jackson's passing has not made headlines much here on Tweb, yet. He was so talented--truly an "all-rounder," as they say. A total performer. What a great singing voice; listen to his 'early' ballads for sure proof of that. Just his dancing alone was mindblowingly good. He will be remembered as a musical superstar for decades to come, I'm sure.

Can I put up a link to a song sung by Lionel Richie at Michael Jackson's memorial service, two days ago ? I'll leave it up to you. I maen, it's a departure of sorts from the OP 'intentions.' But if so--Ok-- It's Richie's own, from 1980, (when still with The Commodores): "Jesus is Love."

Oh, it's really gets going at 2 miuntes in - - strirring, all together, though.

Thanks for this thread, Xmansmommy.

You're welcome.

Michael Jackson's passing has not made headlines much here on Tweb, yet.

In all honesty, I didn't expect it to be a popular thread. But even if I was the only one posting and the powers that be allowed it, I was looking to express my appreciation for his work.

I couldn't agree more.

Absolutely!

We Are The World (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmxT21uFRwM)

There comes a time
When we heed a certain call
When the world must come together as one
There are people dying
Oh and it's time to lend a hand to life
The greatest gift of all

We can't go on
Pretending day by day
That someone, somewhere will soon make a change
We are all a part of
God's great big family
And the truth, you know love is all we need

We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me

Send them your heart
So they'll know that someone cares
And their lives will be stronger and free
As God has shown us by turning stone to bread
And so we all must lend a helping hand

We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
Whoa there's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me

When you're down and out
There seems no hope at all
But if you just believe
There's no way we can fall
Well, well, well, well, let us realize
Oh that a change can only come
When we stand together as one

We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me

I was shocked when I first found out, but then again I don't often keep tabs on celebrities.

Personally, I was not a huge fan of all the controversies surrounding him (but this thread is neither the time nor the place for such a thing), but I don't think it can be denied He was one heck of an entertainer. His music was impressive, and my dad even remembers when the "Thriller Dance" was the big thing in the bar scene.

He's gonna be missed.
