Does anyone know of any images of Jesus that portray Him close to the way He really looked? Byzantine and Coptic depictions are definitely closer to the mark than those in the West, but to me they still look too "white".

Isa. 53: 2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
Jesus would look very approachable to everyone and not so handsome as to be “special”. He looked like the average Jew of the time and not attract people by His Looks.

If based on the Shroud of Turin image, and some close-up "takes on" (and the entire painting) of Jesus in "The Transfiguration" by Raphael. (around 1500) Did the event have that kind of crowd, BTW ?
I like that facial image, although the expression is a bit--what? odd.
i recall disagreement over whether or not Jesus would have had a beard (and mustache). There are some who almost insist He would have been clean-shaven. I say it cannot be known, no matter what (but whatto I know ?!).

Well, of course it's odd; it's a dead guy (the Shroud image).
The skin on the Shroud of Turin is far too white and I think the nose is all wrong. If Jesus did have long hair (I have my doubts about that article's reason for him not to), it would have been big and bushy like the guy from the band Kansas.
Or maybe semi-dreadlocks. I can actually imagine Jesus styling his hair somewhat like this, if it was long:

I've always felt that most "pictures" of Jesus I have seen look too "sissy".

The one in the article I posted looks like he's trippin' out.

I don't think it conforms to the OP. These are westernised-stylised misrepresentations of Jesus.

I unfortunately run across many people who are less concerned with what God's message is and are more concerned with the trivial things.
The Lord says: "These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is made up only of rules taught by men. ~ Isaiah 29:13
