View Full Version : We need subscribers!

Dee Dee Warren
November 29th 2009, 06:25 PM
Hi twebbians, we don't do this often, but we are in need of some folks to step up to be monthly subscribers. If you enjoy the site, and have the means, please consider supporting us in that way. As a bonus, this is a point in time where we are working on a remodel, and the subscribers get first access to test forum areas to give us input.

Thank YOU! to those who have responded to this call for assistance. We could use a few more subscribers, but we are well on our way with the several who did respond.

You can respond for as little as $5/month. If you spend a lot of time here, and ONLY if you can afford it, please consider chipping in. That's pretty cheap for the entertainment value of some of our characters ;)

Special thanks to TyFullaCrockwell for graciously providing a free sample of the outrageous entertainment value that loony toons such as himself have.

Thank you again to everyone who responded. And thank you sincerely Ty.

We find ourselves about $50.00 short for our December bills. If anyone is in a position to help us out with that, it would be greatly appreciated. We were $100 short and today I was blessed to see a member step forward without even knowing the precise need who provided half of it. Remember, signing up as a $5/month subscriber would get us towards correcting that shortfall as well.

Thanks!

Hi guys, as we have not yet had our banning auction (I have it on the agenda to get with the owners on---some personal real life issues have occurred with several of us that have caused us to have to push back some tweb time until they are straightened out), so we have a monthly shortfall of $50.00. If several people could help out on that, it would be light work, and very much needed.

Thank you for considering it.

Hi Guys, it has been four months since we had to last ask, which is very good considering that we are taking 2010 off from our major fund-raising just due to major life truamas and events happening in the lives of upper management, but we are at a serious need again of funding. The best way to solve it is to gain some subscribers, but if you are in a position to give a one-off gift we need to raise $200 over the next two weeks. Please help if you can.

Dee Dee Warren
April 21st 2010, 08:38 AM

Dee Dee Warren
April 30th 2010, 12:09 PM
yay! the emergency is done for this month, thank you to all those who helped.

If anyone has the means and desire to become a $5/month subscriber, it helps alleviate these situations. Unfortunately this year is going to be like this as due to real life emergencies, the owners were not able to do our typical beginning of year fundraising and site refresh.

Is it a secret or can you say how much the server bill is a month?

Dee Dee Warren
June 10th 2010, 07:28 AM
No it is no secret. To finish this month, we seriously need $50.00. But in order so that I am not back next month, we need subscribers. Or to get a month ahead. The server bill (we actually have three, one main and two backups) is $230.00/month. We rent out $20.00 of it (to me, for my personal sites, I pay for that space myself), so that TWeb pays $210.00.

I hope that helps. And if somehow today we could raise the $50 that would be great.

Howdy guys, server bill due on the first (we paid it late last month) - we are $60 shy, and due to life circumstances, lost a very good subscriber last month.

Please consider a $5 month subscription, and if any of you can stand in the $60 gap, it would be much appreciated. I looked at it a few days ahead of time this time in order to make the announcement in a timely manner.

Can you provide the paypal link again, please? I tried the one several posts back and got a 404 error.

I'll be glad to kick in another $50 as soon as I can get a working link, and I encourage ALL who use TWeb to consider even a $5.00 a month contribution! Many people blow that much at Starbucks on a 59 cent cup of coffee!!!

I don't think it matters whether you are a "Christian" supporter, or somebody who comes here "to do battle" with Christians - it's a FREE (to us) site that COSTS MONEY to the owners!

Okay I am late with this due to the medical issues with my bird, but we need to raise $50 this week so that I can pay the server bill. We are in a grace period.

Thank you all.

Dee Dee Warren
September 30th 2010, 07:56 AM
Okay everyone, though I know that God has some great years planned for me, apparently in His providence, last month wasn't part of one, and though I had wanted to keep on top of this, the death of a beloved pet and a trip to the hospital for me, well, that kept me distracted.

So we are truly at a crisis point. With the bad economy, we really truly need subscribers. We have a server bill due, and need to raise $190.00 quickly.

If you can help in any amount, please consider it. Here is the link

http://www.theologyweb.com/campus/faq.php?faq=support#faq_support_financial

And I hate to be obnoxious, but I will have to keep bumping this until it is raised. I really should have looked into this a week ago, but my head just wasn't in a remotely good place until this week.

Hey Jon, thanks a whole bunch. Every bit helps. Before the economic downturn, we pretty much counted on many $5/month subscribers which in many cases is easily doable so that there is no big strain on one person. Unfortunately, the bad economies have caused many to not be able to afford that any longer. Ideally we will exist on micro-subscriptions again and I won't have to do the monthly begging :)

Thank you very much.

It's my pleasure...and thank you and the other staff for providing the site. There is a chance I will receive some additional payments today from a client or two, and if so...I will do my best to send a little more before the end of the day...even if only another $5.

how much does the monthly bill for tweb come to?

I might be able to give a bit more in a few days, but I am strapped right now.

Our usual monthly bills (i.e. the months when there isn't domain renewals, license renewals etc) are between $240-$250/month. The main server bill is $210/month. The other charges are for redundant backups. I usually pay for the backups personally so the amount we need to raise by subscriptions/one time gifts is $210/month. I haven't counted our subscriber income lately (I need to) but it is down to about $60 month, give or take. As you can readilly see, that's a problem. Before the tough times, we had a surplus each month and could upgrade equipment, buy ad space.

Unfortunately with baby #3 due in a month I need to hoard money until we've got the things we need to get (we don't know if it's a boy or a girl, and if it is a boy, we'll need to go shopping).

Once the baby is here, and things are settled, I can set up monthly subs. ... unfortunately that is going to probably be around January.

I agree with Sparko. I think a lot of people won't see this thread, and won't have any idea there is a need.

And, if it makes it easier, I'll be glad to write the article so it doesn't look like "Dee Dee is begging for money for "her" website"". Probably, there are a lot of Tweb members who think/thought like I did that Tweb is the "ministry" of some company or church or organization, and "probably" has plenty of money.

If you'd like, Dee Dee, I'll write an article from my perspective (subject to your approval) with a link to paypal/contribution.

OR, I'll just shut up and continue sending money.

For those who read this thread, Tweb was started by three online friends, YXBoom, $cirisme, and Dee Dee Warren (Dizzle) - who wanted a forum where everyone could participate and discuss theology freely. theologyweb is entirely user supported (the owners take up what slack they can) - tweb makes NO MONEY. It COSTS money. The staff here is all volunteer. We don't get paid. In fact many of us help by paying subscriptions just like the other members do. As anyone can see, tweb is having some hard times and we need more subscriptions and donations to keep it going.

Personally, I think Tweb is the best theology based website on the internet. It feels like family to me (yes, even the trolls!) and I will do whatever I can to support it. I hope other members feel the same way and sign up for a subscription (starting at $5/month) or make at least a donation or two.

Yxboom is currently working on updating the forum software too, to make tweb even better. It's based on vbulletin board software, but as anyone can see, it is extremely customized and while yxboom and the other programmers are working for free, the software still costs money. As well as the hosting, servers, and backups that Dizzle mentioned.

So help out people, if you can.
