I don't think we spend enough time thinking about heaven.

What are your thoughts?

I've thought about it (and studied it) alot...

When I think of heaven I think of a perfected world, a home for humanity the way its supposed to be.

When I think of Heaven, I think of Eden. Humans as innocent animals living in a world made for not by them them, once more enjoying the presence of God.

I have no interest in a perfected world.. pure good and pure evil are one end of the other. Neither is anyplace anybody wants to live.

Have you seen the Simpsons episode where Homer goes to Chocolate Land?

Well there you are!

I think of . . .

Revelation 5
11 Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders.
12 In a loud voice they sang:
Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honour and glory and praise!
13
Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing:
To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honour and glory and power, for ever and ever!
14
The four living creatures said, Amen, and the elders fell down and worshipped.

Is there anything more exciting than this picture?!? I just got back from the UGA v. Kentucky game, and it was pretty exciting - but this takes the cake immeasurably. Wow!

We will love each other just as God loves us.

I imagine Heaven to be a place where all of our being is used to serve others and love them. All of our talents will be fully developed for others to enjoy and to serve their needs fully and completely. There will be not a need unmet or a hurt given or inflicted...

I do not know which theologian I was reading (maybe it was Keating) but he described it as a place where we will be so absorbed by other people's glory and serving them that we will be totally unaware of our own.

A completely selfless world; that is Heaven to me.

"The place where God's reality, His rule and purposes (heaven), are fully melded together with the Human reality, creation."

Lazy Ag,

I think you've thought about heaven just a little too much...

But thanks for the image.. I assume your talking about Ann in her pre-dotage manifestation..

Heaven as described in The Great Divorce where everything is just more "real".

Heaven, described in Scriptures, is the "true" creation, where God's purposes and rule, and human reality are melded into one.

Wayne Grudem said in class that unless he has a landspeeder from episode IV, it will not really be heaven.

When I think of heaven, I think of feeling joy, love, relief . . . I imagine looking at Jesus looking at me and just thinking about it makes me a little emotional. I can't wait to spend eternity in heaven. I imagine that is surpasses any earthly beauty, because Jesus was the ultimate awesome beauty. Like a peacfeul mountain scene - times 100. A beach on the ocean at sunset - to the 100'th power.

I think of that passage in Isaiah (I think) where the angels have one wing covering their eyes, due to the infinite glory of God.

And that passage in Rev. that Gavin mentioned.
