View Full Version : I'm More Patriotic Than YOU

Let me ask you: Are you a Christian first, and an American second? Or an American first, and a Christian second?
I've asked this question many times, and if you're like most Christians, you'll say you're a Christian first.
I on the other hand have no allegiance to any religion, so I can be an American First!
Those who have an allegiance to some religion cannot be the same. They sometimes have trouble "rendering to Caesar". And when it comes down to a clash between their country and their religion, they will choose the latter.

Bully for you. Is this just some hypothetical exercise, or do you have some way of showing your patriotism?

Is this more hypothetical stuff, or do you have specific examples in mind? American government is specifically set up so there IS no clash between country and religion - so the fact that I'm religious has no impact on my patriotism.

You wish you were a patriot. America is a nation founded on Judeo-Christian principles ya know. Get back to Eurasia, or wherever it is that atheists come from, and take your granola and hackey sacks with you.... or so help me, I'll start to Godwin.

Does this rant have a point or are you just here to rant? Anyway... I joined the military, how about you?

.
To be an American you have to "breathe" its culture and moral.... which has a strong link to God.

well our country claims to be aligning itself with God first so I guess I am in good company. National Motto: In God we Trust. I See it on every coin and bill, so I guess I am indeed "rendering unto Caesar what is Caesar's" . Not to mention that congress has its own chaplain(s) and opens every session with a prayer.

I like riding horses.
I like eating chocolate ice cream.
Am I a horseman first, and a chocolate connoisseur second?
Or am I a chocolate connoisseur first, and a horseman second?
(It just occurred to me that I've never eaten chocolate ice cream WHILE riding a horse! Wow.. what have I been missing!)

Why am I not surprised that a self-described Christian conservative turns this around to personal abuse? Where is the love of which they boast? Obviously to be a Christian is to be a phony.

When they get called on it, what do we get?

Perhaps you should try again and think through your statement first. Your OP makes as much sense as claiming that because you don't care for pizza yet like bacon that you like bacon more than anyone who also likes pizza ever could. :dizzy:

If you come in here and start fights with people, don't expect people not to react the way they do. What's the problem, were not expecting that kind of a reaction?

Actually, if I'm being honest, a more proper phrase would be "God judge America". I don't see how God can bless a country that permits and sometimes encourages the slaughter of tens of thousands of children each year.

Very true. God is most gracious, merciful, and patient with a capital 'P'. We've probably been blessed way too much, actually.
