I asked a 'friend' for a recommendation for Netflix.
My 'friend' suggested Broadchurch.

So I've watched the first three episodes and the people speak in this weird garbled English-like language, but not really English, kind of like how you'd expect people on the short bus to talk if they'd all been drinking. Anyways it is hard to follow the plot, or it was, until I turned on the captions which has helped considerably. The plot is full of oddities, like the director is trying to make the world alien, only in subtle ways. For example, the steering wheel is on the wrong side of the car for all of the cars. I imagine that has some sort of symbolic meaning that will become clear later on?

I'm not sure I'll keep watching it.

Did they all talk like Scotty on Star Trek?

Yeah, do you think it some sort of weird tie in?
I didn't think this series would have aliens.

I didn't think this series would have aliens.Well star trek is all about aliens. So basically this could be about a planet of Scotties. Like that planet with the Nazi's on Star Trek, or the one with the Mobsters, or Indians.
