The most anticipated contest of TWeb history!

It's the |-|/-\x0r'5 own contest, a photo editing contest!

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to create something funny, something weird, or something totally outrageous using your sweat, a good photo editing program, and Google image search! :teeth:

The Rules
1. The image must conform to all TWeb attachment restrictions.
2. We must receive your entry by midnight on March 15th.
3. You must conform to all TWeb rules, especially #6.

What I Want
I want you to make an image of an outrageous(preferably funny) news story that is not likely to happen. The challenge is to make it look like it was in a credible media's news coverage. Please see my (sample) entry below for an example.

Entering
You may enter at any time between now and the deadline. To enter, simply post an attachment of your entry on this thread.

The Prize
The focus on this contest is not the prize(read: we can't afford a half-way decent prize, so we'll make something up about having "fun" and learning stuff ) but learning how to use these powerful image tools, hence the "tutorial". The winners will get a special title declaring how wonderful of an image manipulator they are.

How the winners are chosen
Each willing moderator can assign a number of points to each image. The one with the most points will win. (simple, no? :teeth:)

Winning Strategies
I have the most votes in this contest(it was, after-all, my idea :teeth:), so in order to win, there are some key areas you should focus on:

1. Quality - The better the quality, the happier I am.
2. Large Images - make the most of your assigned pixels, but don't sacrifice quality.
3. Humor - 'cuz I like funny stuff.
4. If you can make fun of the French or Clinton, you get extra points. If you can do it in the same image, you're a sure winner! ( just kidding)

My Entry

Getting the GIMP
I want everyone to enter, so I have allowed the GIMP, a free Photoshop "replacement", to be used in the contest.

To download the GIMP, first go here (http://www2.arnes.si/~sopjsimo/gimp/) and download and install the first file, the "gtk+-1.3.0-20030115-setup.zip" file.

After you have downloaded and installed it, please download the next file, the "gimp-1.2.4-20030119-setup-1.zip" file.

Install and enjoy.

If you have any questions, either about downloading and installing the GIMP, or the contest itself, please don't hesitate to contact me.

It must be made using the GIMP(free), Adobe Photoshop Elements, or Adobe Photoshop.(any version)

Rats! Why such a limited selection? The only one I got is Micrografx Picture Publisher :-/

Why such a limited selection?

The GIMP is free.

Most contests only allow you to use one program, like only Photoshop.

I am still chuckling at Boom's last one. That was great. Hmm, I am thinking it needs to preserved for posterity in the Dean's List.

and another.

And I cheated, I did it in MSPaint.

I cut and pasted Dee Dee's face. filled in the beard bits pixel by pixel. I shrank it on Microsoft photo editor.

Are you suuuuuure we can't use other similar software? I'll break the rules to show ya that you can use other image editing software which pretty much functions in the same ways as the progz you have listed. I know I won't win but I enjoy screwing around with images :)

In this image I used the clone brush to cover Colin Powell with blue curtain, and then simply pasted Saruman in. Getting the text to allign was the most difficult part. If the text looks crooked blame it on Saruman's Magical Powers! or something. ;)

Who is who?

Well, the general rule is "left to right," but I will let the interested parties decide who is Stalin, and then duke it out from there.

Wow, now THAT is a paradox. It is like the never-ending succession of turtles. I mean if Boom were to fit in his own head, his head would have to a tad bit larger than his head to fit his capacious head, and wow, man, that goes on forever.
