The key scene takes place in "The Incident," a short story in Action Comics #900 written by David S. Goyer with art by Miguel Sepulveda. In it, Superman consults with the President's national security advisor, who is incensed that Superman appeared in Tehran to non-violently support the protesters demonstrating against the Iranian regime, no doubt an analogue for the recent real-life protests in the Middle East. However, since Superman is viewed as an American icon in the DC Universe as well as our own, the Iranian government has construed his actions as the will of the American President, and indeed, an act of war.
They made Lex Luthor president. Can you blame him?

Superman is no Batman. Nice try, Kent, no one is buying your sudden high minded attitude. You never migrated here legally anyway

Um, if he didn't immigrate legally at some point (probably long after the fact, granted) he can't renounce his American citizenship since he isn't an American in the first place!
It's a ruse. Wait about 14 issues and you'll see...

Looks like it's not just business that Obama's trying to drive out of the country.

He'll be sorry at the next American Hero Convention.
Imagine watching the Green Hornet dining at a table while you sit in the balcony with Cheeze-Its.

Can you imagine if Shadowloser was an American icon? We would lose all global credibility.

Hope he enjoys living full time in the Fortress of Solitude. Having two identities doesn't make you two people - Clark needs a green card now if he's gonna work in the US.

:grin:Well, now he can marry Lois. I knew it! It's always about the opposite sex!

Just as well it was a Canadian who started him. Now he should come back to Canada and hang out with Wolverine.

I'd vote for Lex over our current president. And some other candidates.
A friend of mine (I'll let you find his post if curious) did make me laugh when he said:
Did Superman pay taxes? Where did the IRS send him bills? How does he declare his annual income? Actually he shouldn’t – which means Superman must be legally poor. Does the government send him welfare checks?
The worst part about this storyline is all the questions it brings up about other issues...

While gone for a while, I updated my Christmas card list
took superman off
replaced him with the Green Hornet.
Bet that pisses Supe off.

Send him a card for the Fourth of July 'having a great time, wish you were here. Your mom made pie.'
