I saw Pat Boone at the West Coast Spirit Concert last year. It was really sad. He sang a song and it was absolutely terrible. And at first the sound guys messed up on the first song, and he was really mean to them. I don't know him personally, but I felt he was making a mockery out of Christianity.

actually, it makes sense in context. sometimes when McDonalds gets busy and someone makes an unusual order, they often have them wait in a parking spot nearby while the food is being made. that way, other customers can be served when it is unnecessary to have them wait.
i've had it happen to me a couple of times.

That's a wonderfully funny picture.
But I couldn't disagree more. We should never have high self-esteem. We just reject ourselves, die to ourselves and to the world. We shouldn't have low self-esteem either, because that carries a desire to have more self-esteem.
We should have no self-esteem.

we should have godly self-worth instead. self-esteem is dependant on how good we are, so it is a form of pride (likewise "low self-esteem" is self depreciation, which is false humility and also sin). self-worth in its holiest form does not look at self for value, but looks at God-- we are precious and valuable to Him, and nothing we do can change that (no excuse for sin, however).
you talk about dieng to self. that is only half of Christian worship: self is also to live for Christ.

I agree with that view point Right Idea. If we humble ourselves he will lift us up. We should always see ourselves in this light. Without Christ and his love, we are nothing but smelly rags. Thank you for posting that Right Idea: I really needed to read that.
As for my picture it part of a pretty humorous series that I found while surfing the net. I'll post the next in about 10 hours.

/ot I have mixed feelings about this whole "self esteem" thing. I think that the current trend to make self esteem the end all of reality is way off.
On the other hand:
Psalm 139:14
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
If my "esteem" is based on who I am, then it should be low (I am a sinner undeserving of God's Love)
If my "esteem" is base on [u]Who's[/b] I am, then it should be high. As I am "fearfully and wonderfully made." I am created in God's image. And that, IMHO is pretty awsome.
The fact that God loves me, a sinner, gives me worth. not because of anything I have done, but because of the great goodness of God.
Of course then, all the glory goes to God, the creator, where it rightly belongs.
The irony of this is that in order to have what I call "proper high self esteem", you first have to realize how you are nothing apart from your Creator.

A mother cheetah yawns beside one of her young cubs at the De Wildt Cheetah center in South Africa June 12, 2003 which has just launched a nationwide census to find the number of the endangered big cats living wild in South Africa. Using radio collars, cameras, aircraft and DNA testing, the survey is the first comprehensive study of any country's cheetah population, says Ann van Dyk, who started the De Wildt Cheetah and Wildlife Trust 32 years ago. The De Wildt is the only approved cheetah-breeding center in the world. The census is expected to take between five and eight years to complete. Picture taken June 12, 2003.REUTERS/Juda Ngwenya
