View Full Version : True Temple Criteria

Ever notice that the three true temples have certain shared criteria?:
1. All built at God's decree, (not by human decision)
2. All built by God's people, (outsiders not allowed to help)
3. All filled by presence of God, (Solomon's at dedication, Nehemiah's at Jesus' coming, Spiritual temple at Pentecost)
But, if another temple is built in Jerusalem today--would it fulfill any of the above criteria? If not, would it really be God's temple?
Just something I've been chewing on.

Good question tdavis. One that I have often asked myself. Of course I would say no, a future temple would not be a temple of God. But as an orthodox preterist, I do not need a future temple in my eschatology.:teeth:
I would really be interested in hearing some DFs answer this question.

Nice thought,,, the Presence at Pentecost especially since Jesus said;
John 14:16
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
(KJV)
Seems as though the Presence is occupied.

Perhaps we can even see something of the Trinity in these three temples:
The first built by Solomon, recognizing God as the Father was grand and glorious. The second initially looked so inferior that it made the old men weep--but that temple awaited Jesus' coming (God veiled in flesh). And finally the third is the temple of the Spirit, and is itself a spiritual temple.
The typology seems to shout to me.
Any thoughts about that aspect?

I believe that this fulfills YH'SHWH'S WORD/LAW (Genesis to Revelation).
