Pentecostal Calvinist?

Hello friends,

I not really new to twebb...just new to posting here. And i have a question...

can someone be a "Calvinist" and still be a pentecostal...?

and by pentecostal i mean someone who believes in the "Gifts of the Spirit" such as The charismatics and the IPHC and the AoG and so on and so on...


here is why i ask..

I have grown up in the IPHC church all my life.. its really all I know. I used to lead worship in a free will baptist church... but thats beside the point anyway.... And about last year I really started questioning why I believe what I believe.. do I believe it because thats what mom and dad believe? Do I believe it because they tell me too... Do i believe it because thats all there is... well I found that thats not all there is... I had heard of calvinism and i always thought of them as the "Bad guys" of Christianity the ones with an aweful out look on life... but as i study calvinism more and more i am begining to think... maybe they are right. and i am really at a cross roads.

so pentecostal and calvinistic?

I have always seen the gifts exercised the right way. i even experienced tounges once.. i know experience dosent matter much here from what i have read. i just want to know if you all think it is possible for someone to be a calvinist and a pentecostal? and i dont really care who aswers as long as they are one of the two. or both.. please dont turn this into a cessation thread... please..

You might talk to Gavin here at TWeb, for he believes in supernatural spiritual gifts and is a Calvinist as well. I am a Calvinist, but most definitely not a Charismatic.
Calvinism and Charismatic Theology do not really address the same issues, so you can be both, but I would urge you to study the gifts issue as well. Most Calvinists are not in the Pentecostal camp, although they may be compatible.

I am both a Calvinist and a Charismatic. I go to a church which is part of an association which holds both of these together.
