We find ourselves nearing the end of another year. In many ways the journey from January 1, 2003 until December 31, 2003 has been like a ride on a roller coaster. I am sure there are those who feel as though they have been at the mercy of the “ride,” like victims of time and others who have felt in complete control of their destiny. I’m sure there are those who are glad 2003 is about to be put into the history books and others who will be sad to see it go. No matter what kind of a year you’ve had you are who you are and what you are because of the hours, days, weeks, and months of 2003.
I can assure you that every beat of your heart over the past year as been in time with the pulse of God. For some of us that will be a “hard pill” to swallow for others it will easy. As I look back there are times when I’ve cried, “Where are you God, why am I out here by myself?” There also have been times when the beat of my heart has been so feeble I knew it was God’s heart beat that kept me going.
As I face 2004 I wonder do continue to write and send out Glory Seeds or do I stop? After writing nearly 300 of them over the past two years or so can I continue to think of new ways of saying God loves you? I know our circumstances differ but I suspect each of you will be considering similar questions in 2004. Please over the next day or so seek God’s advice and remember your request need not be lengthy. And at the appointed time God will say, “Let there be 2004,” and at 12:00.01 AM January 1st there will be 2004 and the possibilities will, in many ways be limitless.
In the meantime words from the past provide a foundation for the future. “Blessed in the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; for the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.” (Psalms 1:1 – 1:6 RSV)
