Dear sister, you know there are no smiles big enough to express my happiness, so I won't even try.

Heaping gobs of hugs and smiles, straight from Denver to Holland! Friends forever and ever and ever... Don't forget our date!

(We're going to get together a billion years from yesterday, and look back at this incredibly brief earthly life, at all the smiles and hugs and happy tears we will have shared. Just the good things, and none of the bad.)

Beautiful friend, I already see an incredible transformation within you, and it's only the beginning. Your new Lord is in the business of transforming people. It's one of the things He does best! Let Him work in you, and trust Him as He does. And don't let anyone distract you with secondary issues right away... For the moment, just rejoice in the Lord! :teeth:

Congrats, my friend! It is wonderful that you have been reborn and entered the Kingdom of God. While I may never see you in this world, I look forward to meeting you in the world to come. God bless you and keep you, my "little sister."

Wwoooooot. Sweet googley moogley! Welcome, Queen! A song for you.

Trials Turned To Gold [Keith Green]

He's brought me here, where things are clear, and trials turn to gold.

He shared with me, His victory, He won in days of old.

Oh Lord, I don't deserve, the riches of your word,

But You've changed my filthy rags to linen white as snow.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The view from here is nothing near to what it is for You.

I tried to see Your plan for me, but I only acted like I knew.

Oh Lord forgive the times, I tried to read your mind.

Cause you said if I'd be still, then I would hear your voice.

My Lord, my King, my urge to sing and praise the things above.

No words can say the glorious way you changed me with your love.

I haven't had a chance to get to know you all that well yet, but from the posts I've read, and shared, I could not pass up this opportunity to tell you how thrilled, awed, and moved I am that you answered the knock of Jesus at the door of your heart! You've said many things that reminded me of my pre-saved self...I know you're in for a wonderful ride now!

Happy New Life!

Hey Queen,

Looks like you beat me to it, then I got all the fuss.

Couldn't have that, I'm so glad you have your own "party".

God bless you, sweet friend, PM me if you ever want to chat about anything. After all, we're at the same place on the path (I guess, only our Lord knows for sure where we are).

Thank you Lord, this is so amazing!

Queen,

I am overjoyed at your decision.

Praise God!

If you got questions, please feel free to PM me, I'm going to be posting only on weekends this coming year.

It's part of my new years vows...

But, I would be more than happy to respond to you if you had questions about Christianity or just wanted to say hello and share about your babysteps as a newborn Christian.

'Tis OK. No one says everything has to change overnight, nor is it essential to be a Christian.

You have presumably read the Gospel accounts of this remarkable man Jesus, and realized that He is more than a mere man. Nay, He is God Himself who took on human nature to die for our sins and conquer physical death in His glorious resurrection. It might be worth re-reading the Gospels, first to get to know Him even better, but also take note of what He believed about Scripture. What I found is that Jesus even accepted the parts of Scripture most laughed at by skeptics -- see www.theologyweb.com/forum/showthread.php?action=showthread&postid=257782#post257782 and the AiG article the authority of Scripture (http://www.answersingenesis.org/docs2/4306apol_v3n21994.asp).

It would also be instructive to read about Darwin's upringing by an unbelieving father and his utter hatred for Christianity.

May God bless you all with lots of love and sunshine,

Actually, she is starting with Galatians, the "Magna Carta of the Gospel of Grace."

As my ministry always does, I recommended she start with GEAR -- Galatians, Ephesians, Acts, Romans. The four-chamber heart of the gospel message of salvation by grace through faith, apart from works. :thumb:

Just remember Queeny, faith without works is dead! The most straightforward way to reconcile Paul and James is that they used the term faith differently.

Love-Warrior:

I must agree with DLW. James was condemning those who claim to have faith, but don’t manifest it by their deeds, as shown in the bold-type words in
James 2:14–18:
14 What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him?
15 Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food.
16 If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?
17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
18 But someone will say, "You have faith; I have deeds." Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do. The words in italics show that James was talking about justification in the sense of vindication before other people. People cannot see inside your head to know what you believe, but can see what you do. Paul on the other hand was talking about justification meaning being declared legally righteous before God, and this was by grace through faith, not by works (Eph. 2:8–9, Rom. 3:28, 4:2–6, Gal. 3:16 and many other Scriptural passages).
Some claim that James 2:19 disproves salvation by faith alone. But it says:
You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that — and shudder. This shows only that belief in monotheism is insufficient to save. The demons did not believe that Christ died for their sins.

Of course not. But if by "fundy", DLW means biblical inerrantist, this follows logically from Jesus' own view of Scripture, as I already explained. If he means simply a hyperliteralist, then I don't know any.

We're starting to debate doctrine here, folks.... :hrm:

Da Lone-Warrior
January 2nd 2004, 10:14 PM
Well, this isn't the place for a debate on doctrine, particularly in a link dedicated to a new-born Christian.

But Queeny, I'm sure that Soc and I both agree, despite our other differences, that there has been a tremendous amount of scholarship dedicated to proving the Bible as an outdated collection of myths and that archaeologically-speaking it has held its own rather well. As for inerrancy, the Bible's inerrancy holds first and foremost for issues essential for salvation.

There is an important saying "In essential unity, in non-essentials freedom(or something to that effect)." I think Soc and DDW and I are in unity in saying that evolution is a non-essential, though Dawkins-style evolutionary beliefs are definitely anti-theistic.

Luv ya,
dlw

Queen,

This is what I get for not frequenting TWeb as much as before. I have prayed for you many times, and I have appreciated the PMs and pearls you sent me in the past.

My joy for you knows no bounds, and I pray that as you grow in the knowledge and love of Jesus that you will also be comforted in the FACT of His forgiveness.

What a wonderful joy to call you my sister! I'm almost overwhelmed by the thought!

To God be the glory, great things He hath done!!!

1 John 5:11-13 says:

11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

I'm so glad that because you have taken hold of Christ, you KNOW you have eternal life.

This has totally made my day!!

Blessings on you, Queen. If there is anything I can do for you, questions I can answer, or anything, please let me know.

Being a pastor, I thoroughly LOVE helping people establish this relationship with Jesus!

Praise God!!

I read your testimony. Everybody has a problem with sin, but God has given us enough grace that He overcomes "sin that clings so closely". (Heb 12:1, NRSV)
