RC and EO would give fuller orthodox credentials. I wonder what you chose to make it such. Luv probably hit the wrong answer on question 1 and said God had a body. unless she is a follower of Benny Hinn of course. Whereas i hit the option on social action, and didn't select adherence to creeds, liturgies, etc, which would give the quaker vote as far as i can see.

It's like a very slow, very quiet charismatic service. You all sit in a circle, in quiet. Someone stands up and speaks, sits down. quiet. someone prays. quiet. after an hour the punctual Holy Spirit dismisses the meeting and everyone wakes up.

Actually, the early Baptists in England would have been a lot like the Quakers, apart from the presence of a minister. Note, it was orthodox, not liberal Quaker. Still some backbone.
Precisely! As far as I can tell, most orthodox Quakers would be wholly Christian in their worldview and doctrine, the biggest difference being that Quakers are very activist-oriented. The founder of my state, William Penn, was a Quaker, so there are quite a few 300 year-old Quaker congregations in my area.

I have a book by an early Quaker writer Robert/Richard (?) Barclay, a kind of Body of Divinity. Looks mostly kosher.
I have also read stuff by John Howard Yoder, Eberhard Arnold, and Marva Dawn, all part of, or influence by the European Mennonite/Anabaptist movements, parallel to the Quakers.

However, note that mainstream prot is up there at number 8, 5 of the entries are broadly christian, including the top four all grouped together above 90%, one entry is jewish, and the others reflect what you have been. What would that have been 3 months ago I wonder? ms17

I think my results are ballocks anyway-- to reflect my general dogmatic apathy I left all priorities at "medium" and a lot of the things I actually think weren't covered by the options given. I have big problems with the first question, for example. Here's why:
1) God is corporeal
2) God is incorporeal
Which despite being logically impossible, I actually believe both of these things....

Incarnation was dealt with in a later question. But I agree that it was a bit odd to answer that one.

January 12th 2004, 12:47 PM
But don't mormons believe God qua God, as opposed to Christ in the incarnation, is corporeal?

January 12th 2004, 12:51 PM
Doesn't incarnation imply God come to man as a man?
Solly
January 12th 2004, 01:05 PM
yes, but the questions were separate. When we discuss the nature of God as such, God is spirit, incorporeal. When we discuss Christ, then obviously there is the incarnation, which continues. But the first question was about the nature of God, and did not presuppose the later question of the incarnation, anymore than theology books do.

True. The question wasn't worded well. A Christian would have to make some assumptions about future questions.
