and of course, since it's a Baptist church...

I take exception to that. Only one Baptist pastor I've ever seen would call the congregation up to give offering, and I left because of that (Matt. 6:1)

The Catholics, as I understand it, will look down on a person if they don't give or if they don't think someone is giving enough, but that's only in the more corrupt parishes.

This is more fitting for Baptists, according to my last pastor.

A bit of background, so you don't think it's carry-in-dinner:

My home church calls communion the Lord's Supper, consisting of the standard wafer and a shot glass of grape juice. Most people see Lord's Supper and think of fellowship dinner.

Here's one I'd like to see.

Some more background, coming from my third pastor (my home church has been through four pastors in my lifetime and is on their fifth since I've been attending):

Alexander the Great was inspecting his troops, and he found one in rather poor condition, uniform all askew. Alexander asked this man his name, and he said "Alexander, sir" (Macedonian equivalent, of course). Alexander responded "Change your ways or change your name."

This was in a sermon about those who take the title "Christian" and continue to live in a way that insults Christ.

What's wrong with geckos? God designed their feet and running algorithm with exquisite ingenuity, as the AiG article Great gecko glue? (http://www.answersingenesis.org/creation/v23/i1/gecko.asp) shows (well, India liked it :teeth:)

The gecko is a trademark of Geico, he goes all over the place selling Geico insurance. It is an American soil joke.

Why do Baptists remind me of Elvis? Does it have anything to do the percentage of men in the church with bad hair and polyester suits?
