Hi all!
Some of you may have gotten a pm from me asking if I could bum a pearl off of you.
Nooo.... I wasn't trying to just get more pearls and be triflin', silly!
I got bored one day and wondered what would happen if I asked people for pearls- I wondered would they ask me why since I had so many to begin with? Would they just hand them over? Would they say no? Would they give me more than asked, with no questions asked? What would happen?
I decided that whomever sent me a pearl would get it back doubled. If they sent 5, then I give them back 10.
This is what I expected:
1. That not many people would give me a pearl.

2. That the majority of people sharing pearls with me would be heretics and non-christians.

3. That most people would tell me flat out "NO" and not ignore my pm.

4. Very very few would give me more than one pearl.


So this is what happened. This is what I found:
1. Most people I asked gave me at least one pearl.

2. The majority of people who shared their pearls were "orthodox" christians.

3. Many people gave me nothing at all and just ignored my pm. Some knew me or who I was, but some didn't, so that could have been a factor. No biggie.

4. I'd say that more than half didn't even ask questions. I sent out pm's saying something like, "Hey, can I bum a pearl off you?" or "Hi- will you give me a pearl?" and most of the responses were like, "Sure! In fact, have 5!" and that was it. Most of those were christians, but a couple were non.
A few people gave it to me, but were like, "Ummm... you have more than me anyways. Why do you want it?"
Three people made me work for my pearl, but because I did what one asked, she gave me 5 .
There were 3 people who will remain nameless who flat out told me NO.
There was one person in particular whom I had to beg, and reluctantly gave me one measely pearl.
So, the people who sent me one or more pearls, I doubled them back to them and told them thanks for their generosity. There were like 3 people who denied me one pearl, so if it was you, you probably got 10 pearls from me that said something like this:
I didn't want your stinky pearls anyways. Have 10 for yourself. Maybe if you hoard them and sit on them long enough, they will turn into golden eggs and you will really have a treasure!

After all of this, I found myself just giving pearls away to anybody who came to mind for whatever reason.
So, thanks everybody for letting me kill my boredom for a couple of days, and thanks for being generous!

But he gave me one anyways.

I didn't give you a pearl because I try to reserve them for rewarding merit, be it a good post or a person's attitude or what have you. I don't give them away just because someone asks for them, unless it's a case where the person no longer has any pearls (and then I figure they deserve to be rewarded for giving away so many). And since you and I don't know each other well, I figured you were just going through the list of active posters and sending everyone a PM, so I didn't feel obliged to respond. But I will give you pearls now for your experiment and because you've been rewarding people and don't have any left.
