just curious what everyone's thoughts are about the maitreya character. he's a "person" who supposedly has spontaneously appeared to large groups of people (both christians and non-christians) in public places around the world over (at least) the past two decades and speaking to them in their native tounge. he claims to be the one from all religions who's supposed to return including christ, buddha, krishna, imam mahdi, etc.

you can read a little about him (as well as view pictures of him) on these sites:

http://watchman.org/na/maitreya.htm
http://www.worthynews.com/lord-maitreya.html

what do you guys think he is? a false prophet? a false christ? the anti-christ? fictional? etc...

New Age cult. :ahem:

And widely recognized as such, I might add.

From what I see, the man is a legend. Conspiracy theorists have fun speculating about this character. No recent sightings of him, although, come to think of it, I don't recall seeing any recent bigfoot films either.

There are photos of him, which they use to "evangelize" to the public. He's not just a figment of someone's imagination. There is a guy, somewhere.
