I got my house cleaned and in order today and I thought I was just too darn cool. :thumb:
So I decided to tackle my kitchen walls. Bad decision. :egad:
I wanted a subtle effect with soft beige-type colors on the wall..... it's a kitchen for heaven's sake!
So I began..... applying sections of taupe at random..... then a really cool green color just for a little contrast....... and then I did it.
I started thinkin I was REALLY the stuff, and began blending in red and purple......

I have a cream color I had planned to add last all over the wall to tone all of this down and pull it all together....... but after I looked at this, I decided to not even waste the paint.
It doesn't look bad in real life.... but it would look great in a bedroom or a living room or something...... NOT in a kitchen.
It's really funky- reminds me of something DDW would like.
So these pics are not the totally finished project..... the last pic is as far as I got until I quit.
Tomorrow, I head off to Menard's to buy a boring yellow color. Nice boring yellow walls for a TAME kitchen.:argh:
Here is the first, before I began blending the colors:

It looks like when my husband makes spaghetti and wants to test to see if the sauce is done.......you know, flings it against the wall??

Just kidding!!!!!!

Hey, you've gotta break eggs to make....

.....something with eggs....

This wasn't as motivational as I had hoped.

:hrm: Hmmm.... DDW has totally ignored this thread. Maybe my painting offended her? I dunno.
I guess it's hard to tell by the pics I posted, but I didn't mean that it reminded me of her in a bad way. She just likes funky colors and stuff..... and looking at the wall in real life reminds me of her roosters.

Don't worry, all you need to do is do the same thing on a canvas, frame it, and send it to some corny Abstract Art contest and make millions.

I just got back from Menard's- I went paint shopping. I got a pretty color for all over the walls (at least it looks pretty- we'll see when I put it on). I just got my first coat of primer over all those colors..... it would only need prolly one coat of primer, if not for the red color.
The new paint I bought is called "White sage"... and it's a really really really subtle green color.
In my frustration last night with myself, I am going to just paint the moldings as well..... some of them I had removed and stripped. But there were sooo many layers of paint, it was taking me forever. So I am just going to paint them and when I get to the dining room and living room, I will definitely strip those, as they only have just a few layers of paint.
I'll post pics when I am done.
Dee Dee Warren always ignores me! :weep:

Have you SEEN what I have been through the past three days. Those darn infidels have given me a urinary tract infection.

And I liked the pics.

Wow, Rubes ... all you were missing was a nice glaze to go over it all and blend it better. It looks like it may have been very nice with some more subtlety
