Hey all,

I am in the midst of gathering material for my dreaded Senior Paper, which is 40 pages with at least 60 sources (20 periodicals/40 books) on the bibliography. I have approximately 40 tetative journal articles, but I'm sure I'll toss out many of those, but I have only 12 books so far, but I haven't added many commentaries or Greek lexical and grammatical tools.

Anyways, my topic is the Holy Spirit as found in the Petrine epistles. I will be doing an exegesis of all the places the Spirit is either explicitly or implicitly mentioned and will examine Peter's view of the Spirit.

If you know of any good commentaries (I have a list of some, but I don't care if you repeat some of the obvious ones) on these two epistles. Also, any studies or articles dealing with the epistles in general or with biblical pneumatologies would be appreciated. The text I have so far to look at are these: 1 Pet 1:2, 10-12; 2:4-5; 3:18-20; 4:6, 8-11, 12-14; 2 Pet 1:19-21. So if you have one that deals with any of these (even if the main subject is not the Holy Spirit) would also be a great help.

Anyways, the working thesis I have so far from a provisional read-through is that the Spirit is mentioned in the Petrine Epistles as the bringer of comfort and reassurance in the midst of suffering as well as the inspiration behind the utterances of the prophets and the preachers of the Gospel.

Well, obviously check the commentary list on this page.

Also, you will need TDNT, EDNT, and a few other dictionaries. I also recommend Dictionary of the Later New Testament by IVP. It should have some articles you will want to look at.

Well, Don't forget the New International Dictionary of New Testament Theology.

On 2 Peter Bauckham (sp?) in the WBC is good. G.E. Ladd's NT Theology, James D.G. Dunn's The Christ & The Spirit: Volume 2 Pneumatology, F.F. Bruce wrote a book, which I have but can't currently locate. It is entitled something like Men and Movements: Studies in Non-Pauline Theology. It is variously titled (depending on if you have the Paternoster edition, which I have, or the American version, as many of his books were retitlted by American publishers) Anyway it has sections on Peter, but I don't knwo if it has any relevent info for your paper.

If you'd like a slight tangent to your work I had noticed when I did my study on the HS that the theology seems have sprung up full-blown in the NT. Of course I do not mean that they merely created a convenient story on the spur of the moment but rather that until the NT writers the theology of the HS hadn't been written down.
