Okay, I got the Nicolae tapes. The folks at the Library think I am a really big Left Behind fan. I even always turn them in late I love them so much.

Actually, That's one of my favorite books in that series... :teeth:

Eek! I am not liking it. And it is raising an interesting question. Is it right for Rayford to be working for the Antichrist?

Doesn't he reconcile it with the fact that he collecting information for the Christians?

But still. Is it okay to work at the Adult Depot if you are using it as an opportuity to slip Gospel tracts in the mags?

Xavier
January 23rd 2004, 11:27 PM
According to the people who read this stuff, I would say yes...

dizzle
January 23rd 2004, 11:32 PM
It makes no sense to me. He should not be working for the antichrist. And remember how we were talking the other night in Paltalk about whether or not lying is always wrong ? Well Buck asked Rayford to lie and he readily agreed.

So what's the deal with Amanda and Nicolae?

We need some soap opera music about now.

Xavier
January 23rd 2004, 11:39 PM
Yeah, I guess morality is a bit more loose with the end of the world less than 7 years away...

But seriously, You've got to wait for when Ray wants to put out a "hit" on the Anti-Christ a bit later in the series... It will make this moral dilemma look like child's play.

dizzle
January 23rd 2004, 11:42 PM
Well already he is thinking about it, and gunned the Condor to make Nic fall on his rear.

Xavier
January 23rd 2004, 11:44 PM
I found that rather amusing...

The whole reverse intercom switch to me is a strech anyway.

dizzle
January 23rd 2004, 11:45 PM
And he is quite addicted to eavesdropping.....

Xavier
January 23rd 2004, 11:47 PM
Hey, It's God's Gift to Ray on behalf of Christians all around the world...

Not to mention the fact that God used a non-believer to do it...

Xavier

*OFF TOPIC: How'd you change your av? I've got no option for that in my control panel.*

The Image attached is all I get. I think it might have something to do with the permissions, because WUC hasn't finished them all yet (at least at last check.)

Wow... I managed to kill this thread too... :frown:

Don't feel bad, Xavier, since I didn't read the books, this entire thread has been one big tease for me.

I have been really busy.... the constant review of what had happened before is old.

But hey at least Hattie complained about her name.

Xavier
January 26th 2004, 10:06 PM
Yeah... The Books get a bit better later in the series for not going back and rehashing everything.

dizzle
January 29th 2004, 08:42 AM
It is still rehashing a lot. The escape of Zion ben Judah was pretty exciting.

But ughahoahrg;bae;bgar

I was really groaning during that whole part when Buck was following the lines out of the secret shelter, and then up into the belltower, to find the satellite dish.... and then related it to proclaiming the Gospel from the housetops... and ugh, "leave it to Bruce to take the Bible literally...."

Wow did Bruce also believe in transsubstantion? Or did he poke any eyes out when they caused him to sin?

ughhhhhhhhhhhhhh

It is snide comments like that that drive me batty.

We started the new book and I didn't even notice?

:bawl: I'll need to go out and rent Nicolae, I haven't read it in ages.

Sorry Stephen, Thought you knew...

Yeah, DD, I couldn't quite every understand why just Revelations (oops, what would make me do thing like that...) was the only book that had to be taken literaly. Guess it makes for a better story or something.

Buck Williams has registered with Chloe :shifty:

Personally, I'd like to hear from Tsion on exactly how to say his name... I've also said it Zion.

Stephen
January 30th 2004, 11:09 AM
Alright, I got the book out of my school library (who'da thought?). I've just started it, looks like a good read to me

The first thing I noticed was that, was it just me, or in the first chapter did the tone of the writing suddenly change? Last book it ended with a sad, depressing tone, and in this one after just a few pages you hear Ray reffering to people as "walkie talkie",and buck saying cheesy things like "I don't know where we're goin' babe, but I'm not gonna' sit in traffic while the world goes to hell."

I guess the pain of Bruce's death really stuck with them

I pronounce it Sion with a slight T before it, but that's probably wrong.

dizzle
January 30th 2004, 11:29 PM
Ahh I have the audio tapes. It is pronounced Zion.

<Spoilers below>

Buck and Chloe's son, Kenny Bruce (guess where those names came from), calls him Uncle Zone.

Wait until you get to the parts where the Christians (still working for the Anit-christ) manipulate computer information at the highest levels of the GC under their noses and behind their backs without ever getting detected. They create false identities for memebers of the Trib Force within the database to get around and into areas where they can carry out their "missions".

Oh, and then there's the Hummer that Buck uses for his Trib Force missions that the GC bought for him when he was working for thier magazine (I forget the name). He totally trashes the thing and then leaves it when it gets stuck and isn't running very well any more anyway.

That doesn't all happen in nicolae does it? I didn't think Chloe and Buck had kids till Soul Harvest or even Apolyon

In the movies its pronounced "See-own" Ben Judah. But everybody pronounces it diferently so maybe there is no exact right one. But yeah I love the series, as you can probably tell, and I'm anxiously awaiting the final book, GLORIOUS APPEARING, in March!!! Do you think I could join these discussions?

Xavier

Sure Buck... It'd be great to have you...

Yes welcome Buck! Right now it has mostly been preterist and preterist sympthasizers so you are most welcome.

Okay I am on the last tape. Rayford sure has an eavesdropping addiction. But Chloe was cool with Verna Z though that exaggeration of what a lesbian would be like was a bit much.

Also, the way "they take the Bible literally" kept getting repeated as a mantra whenever the One World Faith people were talking critizing the "fundamentalists" is old, and the tie-in that these people were also YEC I thought was not necessary as well.... it just gives the back of hand in a way to those legitimate evangelical views that are not of that position and do not "take the Bible literally" in the way that is meant. However, there is such a disconnecft in the places where even it is admitted that the Trib Saints don't take the Bible literally, such as literal horsemen.

I am finding it interesting on the pontificating on the upcoming world wide earthquake.

Stephen

Okay i am done. Tsion is still in the shelter, and I am getting claustrophobic thinking about it. Everything since that bathroom experience in Ohio I freak out now with the thougth of being locked in a small space. I don't dislike small spaces, it is the locked in part.

This weekend i thoguht I was stuck in an elevator and it really struck me how bad that Ohio experience scarred my psyche.

Now tell the truth. After reading three books, aren't you starting to feel God (or LaHaye) tugging at your heart to become a futurist?

dizzle

Errrr.... no.
