Glory Seed Guidelines

Notice – The ministries featured in this section of TheologyWeb are guests of this site and in some cases not bargaining for the rough and tumble world of debate forums, though sometimes they are. Additionally, this area is frequented and highlighted for guests who also very often are not acclimated to debate fora. As such, the rules of conduct here will be more strict than in the general forum. This will be something within the discretion of the Moderators and the Ministry Representative, but we simply ask that you conduct yourselves in a manner considerate of the fact that these ministries are our invited guests. You can always feel free to start a related thread in general forum without such extra restrictions. Thank you.

These daily devotionals are brought to you by Gary Piper, a writer with our Sister Site, Natural Spirit Ministries. TheologyWeb encourages you to visit and support their site.... they have many informative articles which can be discussed right here. If you enjoy Gary Piper's devotionals, please send him an encouraging note or post. We are very appreciative of our partnership with Natural Spirit Ministries and look forward to many more co-ventures.

A Planting of Faith Seeds for the Glory of the LORD
    Discipline is NOT punishment!

If you’re like me you cringe at the thought of discipline yet it is one of our greatest needs I don’t mean the discipline of being taken out behind the woodshed and have the “tar” wailed out of us but I don’t mean we need to live without some form of opposition either. To some discipline has been and is associated with punishment however punishment is punishment and discipline is discipline. In a sense it is discipline that shapes our lives beginning in infancy as our parents attempt to shape our mealtimes and our sleep times.

I have discovered through my own experience at living that life itself is our greatest disciplinarian by continually throwing roadblocks and detours in our path. I have also discovered (recently I might add) that one of the greatest ways God disciplines us is by hiding from then at just the right moment the Holy Spirit intervenes and we find ourselves becoming a little more like Jesus.

Author Mike Erre writes, “The Christian life is a life where the manifest presence is enjoyed, experienced, and celebrated, but the manifest absence of God is to be equally experienced and learned from as part of the normal Christian journey. This will be great news for some of us; many of us have gone a long time without sensing God’s presence or experiencing dramatic answers to prayer.” (Page 43, Astonished: Recapturing the Wonder, Awe, and Mystery of Life with God. Published by David C. Cook, Kindle Edition. Emphasis mine)

While discipline may not seem be good news because of the negativity surrounding it however when you peel away all the negative layers here’s what’s left. “No discipline seems enjoyable at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it yields the fruit of peace and righteousness to those who have been trained by it. Therefore strengthen your tired hands and weakened knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated but healed instead.” (Hebrews 12:11–13, HCSB)

In the early days before my need for hip replacement as Aseptic Necrosis did its dirty work on my femurs God hide himself but then through his intervention and the miracle of medicine I can now say to God. “Indeed, you have instructed many and have strengthened weak legs. Your words have steadied the one who was stumbling and braced the hips that were buckling.” (Job 4:3–4, HCSB, adapted)

    Believe it! Experience it!
    Grace and PEACE!
    Gary

Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! “Peace be with you,” he said.”
    (John 20:19, NLT)

    Amen Gary!
3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures --1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (borrowed with gratitude from 37818's sig)
