I was reading the other day on some ancient South American cultures that practiced human sacrifice to a deity. This prompted me to remember the folks in the Old Testament who likewise, sacrificed their babies to the pagan god, Molech. Even the Old Testament Jews have references to Abraham nearly sacrificing his son for God and another story in Judges about Jephthah who just might have sacrificed his virgin daughter to God. If there are other cultures who practiced this stuff, I'd like to know.

Turns out that there is a growing religion today that does support human sacrifice. This group, which is getting quite large, traces part of their heritage back to an ancient culture, some of whom were even involved with the sacrifice to Molech or knew others who did so.

This current religious group of whom I speak regularly holds educational meetings as to the importance of human sacrifice. They often speak in community centers, and sometimes in the public arena about the necessary elements of bloodshed and human sacrifice.

At times, they will educate the public as to the need to have the blood of a sacrificed human actually touch them and sometimes they will say that they have bathed in it.

Why hasn't the government stopped this horrid, wretched group? Why isn't the public outraged at this gross lack of respect for human life? Why isn't there censure? For even free speech should not allow for such talk!

It was bad enough that the Satanists had their run of human sacrifice in the 1980's on the Mexican-American border, but now, this group lays claim to the practice of human sacrifice and they are now preaching it on every continent.

Will someone put a stop to this group. Tell them to take their wicked doctrine away and never bring it back!

Their name? The Christians.
The human sacrifice? Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
The reason? Because none of us could die for our own sins!

Yes, I believe all this. God did all this for us, for you and me.

"Are you washed, in the blood, in the soul cleansing blood of the Lamb?"

You know truthman, I pray that you and others understand what I am about to say here and that it's not meant to blaspheme God or anything but I do have something on my heart that has been weighing heavily on it.

We learn in Gen 22 that God commanded Abraham to offer up Isaac as a sacrifice. And although God didn't allow him to actually offer him up and it was a test, it was a command nonetheless. I sometimes wonder if that started a spiral of events and traditions for those that offered up to Molech later. :nsm:

either way, it doesn't negate the powerful message of this thread overall.

Oh not at all. I didn't mean to detract from the powerful message of the sacrifice of Jesus on our behalf. My apologies.

I think the religion of Molech, and that of the Aztecs, and the others that require human sacrifice, are unwitting types of Christ's sacrifice. On a deep level-- deeper than conscious thought-- we know we have sinned, and we know that the price of our sin is death.

So, Xmm, I wouldn't worry that Abraham's near-sacrifice of Isaac spawned off cults of human sacrificers. Fallen humanity would have invented human sacrifice regardless.

Thank you BV. I believe you are probably right.
