Fake ossuary leads Israel to look into sellers of antiquities (http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2004-02-18-israel-antiques-usat_x.htm)
This post to ANE also has some pertinent information on a new book on the Ossuary and the forgers and their fellow-travellers and supporters.

Thanks for that article. I had been wondering whatever had become of last year's charges against Oded Golan. I seem to recall that he was arrested last July, questioned at length, and then released. Since then, there has been virtually no news at all. It seems that either he is telling the truth or else he did a commendable job covering his tracks -- or else the Israeli authorities are very SLOW.
It will be interesting to see the entire matter brought to a conclusion.

I can't wait. Clearly this is a huge affair that will take years to unravel.

As if on cue:
Altman's review of documentary on forgery ring (http://www.bibleinterp.com/articles/Altman_Uvda_review.htm)
I'll be laughing myself sick for months, when I'm not crying over the destruction done by this to archaeology and paleography.

Vorkosigan, I have been looking for an article like this for about 2 weeks due to an interminable dispute over this thing.
Too give you an Idea, I have had to explain Context and stratigraphy, in terms of relative and absolute dating, Numismatic provenencing. To the types of SEM that do and do not exist. Contamination of artefacts by houshold chemicals. You name it, I have shown it.
You just dropped it on the table. I think I hate you(mods...joke just there)
